Yet many thousands of persons become totally blind or visually handicapped simply because they have not been informed. Our task is tremendous, but slowly and surely we will reach tiie day when men will understand the mystery of sight and know how to combat blindness. What we do today leads to the tomorrow when blindness is no more. The Lions Club of Edenton asks that you contribute as generously as possible to this worthy project. Please use the enclosed envelop to send your contribution. Make your check payable to North Carolina Association for the Blind, Incorporated, and mail to White Cane Drive, P.O. All Your INSURANCE NEEDS. You’ll Be Glad You Did. Edenton. N.C. <lB3-4438 Letter To The Editor Dear Editor: I attended the John A. Holmes High School Homecoming game while I was home the weekend of October 29th. I appreciated the warm welcome Mr. Elmore gave all of the Alumni. Being at the game brought back memories of football games when I was attending Holmes High School. _ There was one disap pointing moment though, the school song was not sung. Singing the school song is as much a part of Homecoming as the parade, Homecoming Court and Homecoming Dance. It was always a very moving moment. It was brought to my attention, by one faculty member, that the school song is no longer ap propriate. This can only be because of the city and county schools merging. This may be true but why not let the student body decide, after all it is their school. The issue should not be avoided because some faculty members are worried that it would cause problems. If the present student body decides that the, school song is inap propriate then let them find a new one. I for one like the present school song, but the decision is not mine to make. Whatever is decided, I would like to see some type of school song sung at Homecoming next year. Sincerely, Debbie Burroughs White Oak PTA To Meet White Oak Elementary PTA will meet on November 15 at 7:35 P.M. in the school cafeteria. We invite parents to attend.
