During the visit, the Cub Scouts and leaders gave the residents Thanksgiving turkeys that they had constructed from wood. DOA Annual Essay Contest “Everyday Life in Early America 1750-1850” is the theme of this year’s American Hickory Month Essay Contest sponsored by the Edenton Tea Party Chapter Daughters of The American Revolution. Five schools in Chowan and Perquimans Counties have been visited by the local history month chairman, Mrs. Marguerite Bunch and children in grades 5,6,7, and 8 are working to meet the deadline to have essays com pleted by December 7th. They will be judged and the win ners announced the following week. The winning essays will be sent on to district, state and national for further judging. The four winners will be guests of the chapter in February to read their essays for the program. This is one way the chapter observes February as American History Month.
