meeting of the Colonial Bap
tist Church of Cape Colony,
Chowan County. Speaker for
the occasion was the Rev.
Audie Yancey of Hesperia ,
Ca. Rev. Yancey was born in
Sampson County, near the
town of Clinton and was
raised in that area and in
Portsmouth, Va. where he
resided until he joined the
Marine Corps, and was later
transferred to California
where he has resided since
1962.
After retirement from the
Service he entered the
ministry of Christian educa
tion and presently is serving
as field representative for one
of America’s largest and
finest Christian educational
programs. During Rev.
Yancey’s ministry he has in
itiated ten Christian Schools,
and is presently writing a col
umn for the Hesperia News,
entitled, “The Religion
Report.”
Rev. Yancey recently
resigned his pastorate at Old
Town Baptist Church in
West W. By rum

in Cape Colony area. The
Church is now meeting in the
Jaycees Lodge Building on
Old Base Road. The basic pro
gram of Colonial Baptist
Church is: Sunday School 10
A.M., at present this consist
mainly of Basic Christian (Bi
ble) doctrines. Morning Wor
ship service, 11 A.M., is a
time of challenge for all;
Evening Worship Service, 6
P.M., a time of personal
growth in the Christian life;
and Thursdays at 7 P.M.
meetings held in private
homes for Bible study, a time
for church growth through
study, teaching and prayer.
Last Sunday we learned
that the Bible is the inspired
