Thursday, December 2,1982 Recreational Report Youth Basketball Leagues Clinics for all ages were held this week as the teams begin practicing for the up coming season. This year ther| is a league for every boy and girl in Chowan County from the age of 6 to 18. Games are scheduled to begin in ap proxbnately three weeks. If a coach has not contacted you by the first of next week, then you may call the Recreation Department at 482-8595 to see which team you are on. Youth Coaches Needed Several coaches are still needed to assist in the Youth basketball program. There are five leagues from ages 6-15 that need poaches. About fout; hours a week is all that is required. No experience is necessary, we give on the job training. If you would like to help; please call the Recrea tion 'Department as soon as possible. \ Adult Basketball The orgsinizational meeting for the Open League was held tins week as nine teams were in attendance. The deadline to a team in the league is Friday, December 10. The season is scheduled to begin on December 15. All games will be played on Monday and Wednesday nights at the Recreation Department. B !Lr i is a special night of basketball for those considered “Over the Hill”. This will be in the form of an informal night of basketball and exercise set aside for men who do not play in any organized basketball league. Civic organizations, churches and community members are encouraged to take part in this night of recreation., Thursday night, December 9th marks the beginning of all the fun. Plan now to be there. Aerobic Dance Class A new six week session of aerobic dance begins this week with classes scheduled on Monday and Wednesday evenings at 6:00. All classes are open to both men and women in Chowan County. Julie Spivey and Terry Rothberger are the instructors. A morning exercise class is also offered by the Recreation Department on Tuesday and Thrusday at 10:00. For more information call Julie at 482-8055. Uniforms Needed All football and soccer players are reminded to turn in their uniforms as soon as possible. These uniforms are needed to continue our next program.
