Margaret Stanley has introduced House Bill 376, en titled the Pet Protection Bill, asking the General Assembly to prohibit the sale or dona tion of pound animals for research or classroom experimentation. House Bill 376 will protect North Carolina’s citizens from having their lost pets turned over for hideous ex periments in research institu tions. It will protect the state’s abandoned animals from a fate worse than death. It will protect pet owners from pet theft by ridding our state of independent animal dealers whose presence creates a market for our pet animals e This bill, must have your support in’order to become .North Carolina law. White Ennett Selected ' .'.f 1 : • v Elaine Ennett has been selected to appear in “Outstanding Young Women of America for 1982,” a publication that honors young women for their \ ac complishments and service to . the community. A native of Edenton, Miss Ennett is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charlie F. Holley and an honor graduate of John A. Holmes High School. A teacher at West Bertie Elementary School in Lewiston, she was named teacher of the year there for 1980. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Mu Honor Socie ty, recipient of the Daughters of the American Revolution Medal and Hugh Cale Award. - She was an honor graduate work in Guidance Counseling at Blast Carolina University and also attended Meredith College Graduate School. A past president of the Ber tie County Unit of the North Carolina Association of Educators has also serv ed as treasurer of the organization. She is now corresponding secretary for Delta Sigma Theta, was a condustress for the Order of the Eastern Star in 1982, and treasurer of the Bertie County Alumni Association for Elizabeth Ci ty State University Graduates. Miss Ennett is also a member of the National Education Association, Inter national Reading Association and Eureka Temple of Daughter Elks. In her church, New Ahoskie Baptist, she is a member of the senior choir and fellowship usher board. She has appeared on “Carolina Today,” a televi sion program aired over WNCT-TV at Greenville, is working on a book to be published soon and will ap- . pear in “Ebony” magazine this year. Miss Ennett was also in ducted into the Elizabeth Ci ty State University Hall of Fame fbf academic ex cellence on behalf of the late Dr. H.G. Cooke.
