SECTION B Mr. Benners To Speak At DAR Meeting Bill Benners, Executive Secretary of the Historic Albemarle Tour, will address the Edenton Tea Party Chapter, DAR, at its meeting at 1:00 P.M., Wednesday, April 13, at Boswell’s Restaurant. He will speak on various aspects of the Histric Albemarle Tour. Bill Benners came to his present job of promoting the Historic Albemarle Tour by way of radio. He began his broadcasting career in 1963 in New Bern and moved to Plymouth in 1970 to work with WPNC Radio. He was General Manger of WPNC from 1974 to 1981. During his 18 years in broadcasting he was employed in news, sales, announcing, writing, produc tion, promotion, program ming and management. He has been active in civic work, serving three terms as President of the Plymouth and Washington County Chamber of Commerce. As a member of the Plymouth Jaycees he chaired a project which was recognized as Outstanding Project of the Year 1977 in North Carolina by the North Carolina Jaycees. He has also produced a col lection of pen and ink draw ings issued as limited edition prints and note cards now sold under the Bill Benners trademark. He resides with his wife and daughter in Plymouth. Hunter Safety snooting Tournament To Be Held In Kinston Businesses, individuals and an organization donated over $700.00 to support Edenton’s second Hunter Safety Shooting Team. The team, which consist of Ed Alston, Kevin Bunch, Rodney Chap pell, Jerry Stokesberry and Wayne Tynch, will par ticipate in the Fifth Annual N.C. Wildlife Hunter Safety Shooting Tournament to be held on April 23, at Kinston. Citizen’s Watch Program Has Toll-Free Number The State Bureau of In vestigation now has a toll-free number for citizens to report suspicious activities of boats and aircrafts which could be involved in transporting il legal drugs. Drug smuggling is a serious threat to all of us in North Carolina as well as in the na tion. North Carolina’s coastline has historically been a smuggler’s paradise. Although we in law enforce ment have redoubled our ef forts to detect drug smuggling operations, we cannot cover every nook and cranny in our state without help of our citizens. This citizen’s watch pro gram for drug smuggling is England's first zoo was founded by Henry I (1100-1135) in Oxfordshire.
