Marriage is an institution of
the human race from time im
memorial. All societies from
the most primitive have had
some means or rules to
govern provided in its struc
ture for identifying male and
female living together.
In,all societies a ritual of
some sort-from dragging the
reluctant maiden from a cave
to walking down the aisle has
indicated to others in and out
of the tribe-hands off. Mar
riages have been legal,
religious, social affirmations
of the binding of two people
Together.
In some lands marriages
are contracted by families—
the persons never seeing each
other until the hour of the
ceremony.
In other places common
law marriages are recogniz
ed no religious ceremony or
papers-legal are used but the
community makes provision
for its “legality.” The present
emphasis on “relationships”
is not new. But there are rules

be not only a successful fun
draiser, but also, one of the

Jones will be attending Fri
day, April 15th events. The

day, April 16th begin at 4:30
P.M. with a reception at
Roller World where state
wide Democratic candidates
will be in the receiving line.

ty Seafood Cookout” will
begin at 5:00 P.M. with
another dance beginning at
7:00 P.M. featuring the
“Stringdusters”.

skill to see if you really can

per and get you money’s
worth.
Before you buy, ask
yourself “Why is this item on
sale?” See if the reason
makes a difference to you.
Here’s what I mean.
When buying clothing, find
out if the style is on its way
out. If so you may wish to pass
it up. However, if you can

deal right away, it may be an
excellent buy.
Also notice if the garment is
shopworn, soiled or damaged.
The cost of dry cleaning could
bring the price back up. On
the other hand, if a garment
is damaged, a clever
seamstress may be able to
mend it and get an excellent
buy in the bargain.
Know if the item is an ir
regular or second. Seconds
have flaws such as mends,
tears or runs that may or may
not show or affect wear. Ir
regulars may have imperfec
tions of color, knit or size.
Perhaps the garment is of a
color or style that didn’t sell.

But if it looks good on you - it
may be an excellent
purchase.
Perhaps the price was
reduced because only hard-to
sell sizes are left. Under these
circumstances, you can often
find excellent buys in sample
garments or shoes.
By all means, notice the
construction. Is a portion of
the garment put together
wrong? Are the seamaripping
out? The person who 1 sews
may be able to correct these
faults. If you don’t sew, the in
vestment may not be a wise
one.
