Puyount U/lnots (ho (hnouncod The third annual Miss Vogue/Mr. Esquire Pageant was held at 8 P.M. Saturday, March 26, 1983 in the D.F. Walker School Gymnasium. Participants were area high school juniors and seniors from Camden, Chowan, Pas quotank and Perquimans Counties. The pageant culminated six months of cultural, social and fundraising activities for con testants. More than $6,000 was netted in scholarship funds. Activities included: “Get Ac quainted Self Awareness/Health - Occupa tional and Black Awareness Clinics.” Also a Parent Lun cheon and Dance Rehearsals were held. The event was sponsored by Nu Eta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., located in Edenton. It was designed to assist in the educational and cultural development of our youth and to encourage them to succeed in their academic studies while synonomously develop ing greater self-respect and pride. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Belch of Edenton, N.C. and the granddaughter of Mrs. Mrs. Robert Lee Keown Mary Belch and Mr. & Mrs. Leonard Mitzke. The bridegroom is the son of Mrs. Mary Keown and the late Mr. John Keown. The candles were lit by Mr. Chris Belch, brother of the bride. The entrance was decorated with white dogwoods and ferns. The bride carried a cascading bouquet of white carnations and baby breath. She chose Miss Kim Brickhouse as maid of honor. Mr. Millard Layton served as best man for the groom. The bride wore a gown of white bridal satin with a Vic torian neckline and bodice, accented with Schiffli lace and a flowing train. A reception followed the ceremony attended by family and friends. The wedding cake was made by Mrs. Shirley Ashley. Following a wedding trip to the Outer Banks, the couple will reside in Tyner, N.C.
