The extended benefits pro gram ended May 14, Changes in the insured unemployment rate deter mine the beginning anrl end of an extended benefits period. When the insured rate rises above 5 per cent, an extended benefits program is triggered on and must remain in effect for 13 weeks. At the end of the 13 week period, if the rate fails below 5 per cent, the pro gram is terminated automatically. Due to recent insured unemployment rate declines.- .the...week eiidiut May 14 was the last' payable week for those claimants now receiving extended benefits. The most recent extended period began in February 1983. Payments have totaled more than $24-million since that tiftie. Extended benefits for a period up to 13 weeks. have“been paid when an unemployment insurance claimant exhausted regular benefits. While no extended benefits are available after May 14, a claimant may be eligible foi federal supplemental com pensation (FSO for a perioc up to 10 weeks beyond regulai benefits. Unemployment insuranc< claimantsare advised to con tact the local office of tht Employment Security Com mission for complete infor mation and service.
