Precinct meetings slated uemocrais in cnowan county are launching their election year activities with their annual precinct meetings on Thursday, March 13 at 8:00 p.m. This date is the previously scheduled make-up date designated by the State Ex ecutive Committee. In case of severly inclement weather or lack of quorum, March 20 will be the make-up date for Chowan County. Any registered Democrat is in vited to attend. The change in scheduling Chowan County precinct meetings was made due to the performance of the North Carolina Symphony in Edenton on the date selected for statewide meetings. “We made the change with community spirit in mind,” stated Sarah Tynch, Chair of the Chowan County Democrats. "We realize the Sym phony performance is an impor tant event for our area and it is quite well attended. We chose to change the date for our precinct meetings to allow involvement with both activities." Mrs. Tynch said the precinct meetings are an important step in the Party's overall election year strategy. “We re a ground-up par ty. Our strength has always been in the hundreds of good people we have in precincts across the state. The precincts are strong, our county organizations are strong, and our state party is strong." Each precinct will elect delegates to the Chowan County convention on April 5. Precincts will have the chance to pass resolutions expressing their views on political and public policy issues. Mrs. Tvnch said she expected a good turn-out tor tne March 13 precinct meetings which are held at each precinct polling place. They are: Wardville, Rescue Squad building; Center Hill, Fire Department; Rocky Hock, Rescue Squad Building; East Edenton, County Office Building; West Edenton, New Rescue Squad Building; Yeopim, New Armory. Anyone who needs more informa tion about the precinct meetings should call Sarah Tynch, 221-4404, after 5:00 p.m. Raffle held Edenton Prime Time recently conducted a craft sale and Raffle for a load of firewood to benefit the Chowan County Heart Assoc.
