We used two categories: “Black History” and “North Carolina History”. The students enjoyed playing this game very much. ♦ ♦♦♦♦♦ “Program Outreach” came to White Oak Elementary School Wednesday. A presentation in cor relation with our marine life unit delighted our students. Terry Kirby and Peggy Pruett from the Marine Resources Center made the ocean and its creatures come to life.“Mysteries of the Deep”, a Walt Disney movie, was shown. Lunch - Hot dog with roll, ketchup and mustard, baked beans, cherry cobbler, cheese stick, and milk. Tuesday: Breakfast - Orange juice, doughtnuts or cereals, milk. Lunch - Lasagna, tossed salad, buttered corn, chocolate cluster, rolls, and milk. Wednesday: Breakfast Pineapple/orange juice, sausage biscuit, and milk. Lunch - Fried chicken, green beans, potato salad, rolls, and milk. Thursday: Breakfast - Fruit or juice, scrambled eggs, buttered toast with jelly, and milk. Lunch - Meat loaf with gravy, steamed rice, mixed vegetables, sliced peaches, rolls, and milk. Friday: Breakfast - Grape juice, little smokies, pancakes with syrup, and milk. Needless to say, it was a great experience. CJHS science fair held On February 25 and 26, Chowan Jr. High held its third annual Science Fair. Student projects were displayed in the gym for the student body and for judging by a panel of judges selected from the community. The projects, which were started earlier this year, employ the steps of the scientific method. Once the purpose, of the project was decided upon and a hypothesis was formulated, a stu dent had to experiment, observe what happened, and collect his/her data. The final step was then to draw a conclusion based upon the results. This year’s winners for the seventh grade were as follows: First Place - Wynn Van Duyn; Se cond Place - Melissa Lawrence; Third Place - Robert Winborne; and Honorable Mention - Sterling Baker.
