Or, call the shelter at 221-8514 for details. Mike is an 8-9 month old sweet male Lab mix. This playful pup and his sister were strays. They both are smart and love to fetch. There are currently five other puppies at the shelter ranging from 4-9 months - old. Also many fan tastic adult dogs. Stevie is a very handsome young adult male hound dog. Re cently retired from hunting, Stevie and several of his buddies are ready for a good family life. He and many other animals at the shelter are also wishing for foster homes. Good looking Oliver is an auburn-colored, neutered male. He is es timated to be 2-3 years old and about 28 pounds. He is very easy to handle and has a pleasant personality. Oliver is just one-of the great dogs at the shelter. Hol mes High School senior Jonae Zakera Patrick a $10,000 four-year college scholarship. Patrick’s scholarship was awarded for study ay North Carolina Agricul tural & Technical State sistance Fund” at Chowan Animal Hospital This special fund pays for meds and boarding of dogs waiting to be trans University. Given based on SECU’s philosophy of “people Helping People,” the scholarship recognizes the recipient’s commu nity involvement, lead ership skills, character and integrity, as well as scholastic achievement of maintaining a 2.5 or high er grade point average. The scholarship will be ported to rescue organiza tions. Tax deductible dona tions to the fund may be made to AWARE, RO. Box used for tuition and uni versity approved educa tional expenses over eight consecutive semesters. Walker third grad ers recently had a great learning experience in Jenna Lassiter’s class. The class enjoyed a presentation put on for them by Sherry Har ris and Janet Stallings. Harris is an administra tive conservationist for the Chowan County Soil and Water Conservation District office. Stallings is an admin istrative/conservation technician for the Per quimans County Soil and Water office. The learning tool used for this event was an EnviroScape. It is a hands-on train ing tool designed to show students how ero sion could be a problem for our environment as well as how things we do on a daily basis can affect our precious wa ter. Holmes High School, is congratulated by Bob Taylor, chairman of the Lions scholarship committee. Beasley said she plans to pursue a career as a pharmacist.
