Rocky Hock Playhouse to perform Easter musical

The Rocky Hock Playhouse
2015 season opens on March 21
with the new Easter musical by
Gloria Emmerich entitled “At the
Foot of the Cross”.
The story begins when Jesus
and His disciples encounter
several of the other leading
characters outside the city
gates of a small village in an
cient Israel. His presence and
healing touch win each per
son over and their lives are
changed forever.
As the story continues the vari
ous characters reveal things about
their background that people to
day will identify with. The themes
of loneliness, infidelity, difficult
relationships, illness and depres
sion are all familiar ones to today’s
audience.
Many familiar Bible passages
are woven into the script as Jesus
shares several parables and life
lessons with those closest to him.
The story also takes us through
Jesus’ difficult personal struggle
in Gethsemane and his agonizing
death on the cross at Calvary. His
ultimate resurrection and reap
pearance to Peter are highlights
in this stirring musical reminder
of the'power of God to change
lives.
The role of Jesus is being por
trayed by Jeffrey Emmerich who
is also directing the production.
All the music in this produc
tion was penned by Gloria Em
merich. She has written over 75
full length musicals and most of
her shows have premiered at the
Rocky Hock Playhouse and are
published and made available to
the public.
Performances of “At the Foot
of the Cross” will be held March
21 through April 18 at the Rocky
Hock Playhouse now located at
the Leon Nixon Catering & Ban
quet Facilities on Hwy. 32 (Vir
ginia Road) in Edenton. Tickets
are priced as follows: Adults,
$29.95; Seniors 62 and older,
$28.95; Children 6-12 years old,
$27.95; Group A, 10-24 people,
$27.95; Group B, 25 or more peo
ple, $26.95. Tickets include both
the performance and an all-you
can-eat buffet.
