The China Wedding of Mr. and
Mrs. T. C. Dickey, whica was given
at th ir home last Friday evening—
although the weather was unpropi-
tious, nearly all the guests bidden
were present, including many from a
distance. The cordial recef tion
given to all by the host and hostess,
caused each to speedily join some
merry group, engaged in animated
conversation.
They were all carried away with
the beauty of the decorations, in
which, new and delightful effects
■. -‘ noticed, as one passed from one
brilliantly lighted room to another.
We were informed, that the beau
ty of the scene, was due' to the order
and good taste, of Mrs. Isbell and
daughter, Miss Claud, Mrs. J. E.
Stephens, Misses Eva Dickey, Edith
Dickey and Burr Mayfield.
The gifts in number, variety and
beauty, furnished such a feast for the
eyes, as we seldom have pleasure of
seeing. Some presents coming from
a distance will be received yet.

The supper was one fit for the
Gods, and any man whose heart can
be reached through the stomache,
must have been a happier man at the
end of each course.
Then followed the merry sounds of
music and the dance, until the “wee
small hours of the morn.”
(congratulations upon the success
of the reception was showed upon
Mr, and wrs. Dickey, who had made
such lavish provision for the enjoy
ment of their guests. Twenty years
have passed so lightly over their
head, they can hardly realize that
youth is past. Many more will pass
before our young folks will cease to
look to them as leaders. May the
next twenty years pass off as pleas
antly as Ilie past has, is the wish of
the Scou r.
Head and yhick.

Mrs. Mary Ragle, of Asheville, N.

her parents, returned home last week
Your correspondent having heard
of the hospitality of the old folks in
Peachtree valley, and of the beauty
and the gallantry of the young folks
there, he will go to this Valley to see
for himself, and will make mention
through the columns of the Scout,
some of the attractive objects to be
found there.
It is rumored with good authority,
that the orange blossoms are to bloom
shortly in the Peachtree Valley.
Mr. O. L. Wright, a polite young
man here at Marble, and in the em
ploy of the State, went down to;
Peachtree on important business.
Itis most to early too see ripe peaches
in this Valley yet, but Mr, Wright
saw his peach and honey all the same
time.
Mr. Z. B. Whittaker went on a dy
ing trip to Asheville last week, and
has returned. He had a big time.
A. B. Smith here at Marble, owns
a milch cow that gave birth to two
calves last week. The twins look
very fine and natural. Your corres
pondent, (in company with Miss
Mabel McMurray), went to see them,
and were delighted too see the play
fulness of the two youngsters.

A Canning Factory.
Citizens why can‘t some of you
form a stock company, and put up a
Canning Factory? -L you wont do
it, why induce some one to come there
that will. There is nothing we kno w
off, that would pay as well as a Can
ning Factory would for three months
in the year.
We have the blackberry, dewber
ry, strawberry, whortleberry, and
different other kinds that we could
mention. We have also all kinds of
cultivated fruits, apples, peaches, etc.
Our shipping facilities are good as
anywhere. You will have a Southern
and Eastern market for your goods.
You also have a large territory ‘o get
yourfruits for the business, as there
is no (vanning Factory between here
and Asheville and Atlanta. So you
see it would pay handsomely.
Citizens study the matter over, and
see if you can’t get this paying busi
ness started up. Don’t set round
with your mouths open like you did
not care whether Murphy was any
thing or not. Stir round and do
something for the upbuilding of the
town and County.
