The many friends of Mrs. Tom Evans will be interested to know that she is recovering from injuries received in an automobile wreck. Mrs. Walter Mauney spent last week with her mother in Asheville, Mrs. Jofin Hastings. Mr. John Walker, of Andrews, was in Murphy on business Tuesday. Mr. Harry Ferguson, of Asheville, spent the week-end with home folks. W. Gud ger. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hill are plan ning to go to Raleigh on Saturday. Mrs. J. W. Among those attending the Tech Georgia football game in Atlanta were: Mr. E. A. Davidson, Mr. J. W. Davidson, Mr. Frank Ellis, and Dr. and Mra. E. L. Stedman left the first of the week to visit Mr. Stedman's sister for several weeks at Eatonton, Ga. Word was received this week that the Hothouse route, project No. 917, consisting of 4.19 miles between Ranger and Hothouse, would be let to contract for grading on Decem ber 12th. Tha route has been desig nated a continuation of route No. 28. It is understood that several bids are being put in by local con tractors. : The members of the Baptist church gave their pastor and wife. Rev. and Mrs. T. L. Sasser, a "pound ing" Wednesday night. Mrs. Fisher Hubbell returned to Atlanta the latter part of last week, after having spent the past week with relatives and friends. Mrs. Rosa Ketron, of Gainesville, is the guest of her daughter, Mrs. Harry Cooper, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Cooper are now at home in the handsome new residence of Mr. and Mrs. Elbert Mallonee on East Avenue. The street forces of th? srs now busy doing the grading work on Eftbt Avenue, in the MooTeland heights section. Mr. T. N. Bates, Mrs. Fred Dick ey and Mrs. Fred Bates, and Mr. Carl Mates motored to Atlanta and returned this week. Mr. Fred Bates has recently pur chased the Ellis Hopkins residence ? . ? ? 4 ... Dr. Tuttle is a graduate of the Richmond School of Pharmacy and has had sixteen years experience in his profession and comes to Mur phy highly recommended. Mr. William N. Hicks and Mi3s Maggie Kallant, of Kyle, N. C., were married November 29th, at the of fice of the Register of Deeds, Mr. T. N. Bates performing the cere mony. Mrs. Fannie Ramsay, who has been visiting friends and relatives at Knoxville, is now with friends in Asheville, and will return to Mur phy next week. County Agents R. W . Gray of Cherokee and J. V. Arrendale, of Clay, are expected to leave the lat ter part of this week to attend the annual meeting of North Carolina Agents and extension workers at R&leigh, which meets there Monday for several days session. A program will be given under the auspices of the High School Glee Club at the .fechool audjtornurm at 7:30 o'clock Friday the 16th of Dec. Savage, while returning from Atlanta, Tuesday, had the misfortune of overturning their car between Cummnig and Dah lonega, Ga., Mrs. Savage suffering a painful cut over the left eye, re quiring two stitches. Mr. and Mrs. Savage received other minor cut! and bruises, and the car was dam aged considerably. Mr. Savage stated that they were on a fill and the road was filled with ruts and bumps, and when they attempted to get out of the rut the car ?kidded over pn embankment about ten feet high, turning completely over and landing in an upright position.
