LOCAL AND PERSONAL ~ Edited By Miss Sarah Cook One of the most enjoyable enter- j tainments of the season was a gypsy party given last Saturday night on |he school grounds by the Senior ' Ep worth league as a farewell to the members who were leaving for col lege. Cay Japanese lanters hung from the trees and a fortune teller's tent proved to be quite an attractive feature, while gaily attired "gypsies" refreshed themselves with ice cold lemonade served from an artistic rustic table banked with autumn leaves. "Hot dogs" were also pre pared and served hot, with rolls and pickles. Everyone had a lovely time. Miss Mary Greene, of Columbia, S. C.. was the guest of Miss Ella MrCombs last week-end. Miss Prances Mashburn, of An drews, was the guest of Miss Pearl Taylor last week-end. Mr. R. \. A most delicious salad course was served. Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Brown, who have been the guests for some time of Mr. Brown's parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. H. Brown, on Valley River Ave., left Monday for Charlotte. Kev. and Mrs. T. L. Sasser return ed Tuesday after having been away for a week. Mrs. G. W. Ellis and Mr. Frank Ellis left Wednesday for Knoxville to be gone until Friday. On their return they will be accompanied by Miss Irene Champion. Mayor and Mrs. H. P. Veterans Bureau. Mr. Christy has been suffering for sime time with his back, he having receiv ed an injury sometime ago in an au to accident. Mr. Bill Smith was displaying in Andrews on Tuesday of this week the hide of 'an African wild hog which he had killed. He said he shot him with a rifle in the eye and the ball came out on the opposite side and after being shot that he fought with the dogs for over ten minutes. He is going to have his hide tanned. At the monthly meeting of the Andrews Building & Loan Associa tion held on Tuesday of this week loans to the amount of $9,2(XU)0 granted. Ai the last monthly meeting loans to the extent of $4, 500,00 were made, making a total og $12,700.00 loaned in a month's time. G. B. Hoblitzell, W. T. Holland, J. W. S. Davis and R. A. Dewar were among those who attended the County Republican Convention in Murphy on Monday of this week. D. S. Russell was a business vis itor in Murphy on Monday of this week. W. P. Currier made a business trip to Atlanta during the latter part of the past week. Little Evelyn Wood, daughter, of Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Wood, is doing fine in the hospital where she was ! taken several days ago. Mr. and Mrs. Wood are remaining over until her condition is such that she can be moved back home. Mr. J. M. Miss Black, of Pennsylvania, are visiting Mr. and Mrs. G. B. Hoblitzell. Mrs. Hoblitzell is the mother of G. B. Hoblitzell and Miss Black is his aunt.
