Farmers in and near franklin and in East Tennessee, make irom eight to two hundred dollars per acre growing these crops and sel ling them to the canneries at those places. IT' hat they do. the farm ers oj this section can do. Here are some reasons why the farm ers of this and adjoining rn un ties should take advantage of this opportunity : First: From three to five times as much per acre can be made in griming these crops as in grow ing corn and like crops. Second: These crops would bring in cash in the early and middle part of the summer alien the farmer has little else to sell, and would provide an income at this season of the year. Third: It would lake little if any more effort to grow these crops than it does to grow torn. Fourth: \ ext year, when the cannery has proven itself, there will he more people naming to grow crops for it than the can nery can handle. The Parent-Teachers Association j held t'd'ir regular meeting Thurs- ; day afternoon. November 1st, in the school auditorium, with about thir- j tv members present. Reports from different commit tees were made. Mrs. J. P. Ander son reported for the Art Committee, Mr. B. W. Sipe for the parking com mittee. and Miss Polatty for the committee in charge of the Halo ween Carnival. The Parking Committee reported that it was thought best to restrict automobile traffic to street at the rear of the Vaughn and Candler res idences and keep it off the driveway going into \ alley River Avenue from the high ?*mbankment. as this entrance was considered dangerous. The meeting voted unanimously to purchase a projecting machine for the purpose of showing pictures loaned by the state, and the commit tee appointed for this follows: B. W. Sipe. Mrs. J. W. Davidson, Mrs. Bessie Dewcese, and Mrs. R. C. Mat tox. A motion was unanimously adopt ed pledging S 100.00 to the Athletic Association of the school to go to ward establishing an indoor court for the school athletics. A vocal number rendered by Net tie Houston Dickey and a reading by Grace Wills Bell were greatly enjoyed at the meeting.
