M . local wholesale merchant and pre nent business man of Murphy, I who -i -1 he had read a newspaper ar- o the effect that if a local jrr< . could raise $25,00 over a per. iod approximately six years with an al investment of $250p the ft 1 government would triple the with a loan of $75,00. This plan, Fain pointed out, would section an agency through whk Federal Housing and similar loai ?i?ht bo made whereas lending ag< are now deluctant in con" side ring applications in a community th f.ii* remove from an urban cent. A? a discussion of the plan Mr. | Fai: and Mayor J. B. Gray were ap. point* 1 to investigate the matter. r; Al> the directors gave Fain authfrity o file protest with the North ; Carolina Utilities commission against 'i permitting the Louisville and Nash1 ville railroad to change its sci *dule on the branch line from here t Blue Ridge, Ga., which would permi them to run one round-trip mixed passenger and freight train over the line per jj day instead of two as is now being 5 done. | Mr. Fain and R. F. Wir -uson potuted out that the anticipated change in schedule would, in some 1 case*, prolong freight movements into Murphy. Also local trade with persons who live in the lower end of tho county and who catch the morning train into town and go out on an evening train would be discouraged, they -aid, as the new schedule would pend one train out in the morning and return in the evening.
