The marriage will take place early in June. Dinner-Dance At ? - r Murphy Late Valentine social events here brought to a climax Friday evening when Mr. B. C. Moneymaker, Mr. Jimmy Ward and Mr. K. 13. Wooten were hosts at a .dinner-dance at the Murphy Cafe. The private dining room was turned into bowers of red hearts and red and white streamers. Guests found their places by small valentines and each guest found attractive favors containing paper hats. The long banquet table was attractive with its unique centerpiece of heart? and arrows and burning red j candles. "The decorations were repleated at each end of the table. | Dinner was served in four courses the I heart motif being noted throughout.' Following the dinner each guest was presented with a red heart dance card and dancing was enjoyed until midnight. The guest list included the following: Misses Anne Candler, Mildred Akin. Bueck Hostess to Two Tables of Bridge On last Friday Mrs. H. Bueck was hostess at a Valentine Bridge luncheon at her home on Dillard Street. Two tables were attractive with valentine appointments and luncheon was served in three courses. The valentine idea being noted. In the afternoon contract was play. ei! Mrs. Cover of Andrews Entertains A delightful social event of the week was a beautifully valentine dinner Friday evening given by Mrs. Giles over of Andrews at her home. Covers were laid for ten and the table was pretty with its centerpiece of Red carnations and red tapers. Dinner in three courses was served to Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Gray, Mr. and Mrs. M. W. Bell, Mr. and Mrs. Cover, Mr. Bill Cover and Miss Elinor Cover and Mary Frances Bell. Petrie Auxiliary Meets The Petrie Hospital Auxiliary will meet on Monday evening. February 24. at 7:00 at the Regal Hotel. Miss Graca Bell Is On UNC Honor Roll Greensboro?Miss Grace Bell, of Murphy, a member of the junior class at the Woman's College of the University of North Carolina, was one of 130 students at the college to make the honor roll for the fall semester, according to the lL?t of names released recently from the office of Miss Mary Taylor Moore, registrar. The honor roll was compiled by selecting the highest ranking 12 per cent of the junior and senior classes, the highest ten per cent of the sophomore class, and the highest eight per cent of the freshman class. No overage less than a B (90 to 95) was considered. Of the total number making the honor roll. 42 were freshmen, 33 were sophomore^, 28 were juniors, and 27 were seniors. The Woman's college has a section of Phi Beta Kappa, honorary scholastic society, into which juniors and seniors who have maintained an average of 92.5 on grades for three years will be initiated in April. Judge Florence E. Allen, of the United States Circuit Court of Appeals will make the Phi Beta Kappa address on April 20. Mr. and Mrs. H. P. Cooper went to Atlanta Sunday.
