Here the dead ar free. , Sudderth?Bass Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bass of Dec herd, Tenn., anounce the marring' \ of their daughter, Evelyn Lois, to I Paul Sudderth, of Murphy, N. C. The wedding took place at the home I of the bride's parents, Saturday,, July 18, at r, p. M., the Rev Shelton of the Cowan Presbyterian Church, officiating. The Bride wore a tailored -uit of white silk with shoulder bouquet of tea roses. Miss Opal Sudderth, sister of the hirdegroom. attended as nail of honor. She wore a costume of white Crepe with corsage of tea roses. After the ceremony, dinner was served for the bridal party and the immediate family. Mr. and Mrs. Sudderth. accompanied by Misses Opal and Dale SudderLh, and Mrs. .John Donley, motored to Murphy, N. C., where the young couple will make their home. Mr. Sudderth is connected with the State Highway Department. Spence?Hawkins Mr and Mrs. J. B. Hawking of Blue Ridge, Ga.. announce the marriage of their daughter, Frances, to Richard T. Spence, at 10:00 o'clock on July 17. The vows were taken in the home of the Rev. Robert Payne. Mrs. Spence graduated from Ramsay Technical High School, Birmingham, Ala., in 10:53, and later attended the Birmingham College of Music. Later she attended the North Georgia College, Dahlonega. Mr. Spence, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Jack Spence, of Cave Springs, Ga, is a graduate of the West Georgia College, Carrollton. U. met Monday evening at the home of Mrs. Cyrus White with Miss Blanche Barton as joint hostess. After the business Miss Arietta Ramsey was presented with a toy suit case, when opened was found to contain handkerchiefs from each member. Miss Ramsey leaves for school i.*j a few weeks. Mrs. Wade Massey led a most interesting program on "China". Mrs. Studstill told of the life and work of Laura Haitood, Adelln Meroney (rave word pictures of the lives of Chinese leaders. Mrs. Frank Ellis presented a very useable plan for PTayintt for Missions. After the program Mrs. Mauney sevred a salad course. Those present were: Rev. and Mrs. W. M. with lie Rev. Fred Styles assisted by the lev. Elish Beaver and the Rev. Ben eece officiating. Interment was in le church cemetery. W. D. Townjn was in charge of funeral arangements. Mr. Shanks, a world war veteran, ied suddenly of a heart attack in le office of Dr. N. B. Adams. Pallbearers were: Bob Keenum, A. I. Simonds, D. M. Raece, Z. C. Ram?y, Arthur Mallonee and Pearson ampbell. Mr. Shanks was born and reared t Waynesville where he had been orbing as a brick mason recently, le was a member of the Pre?byterin church for many year3. During tie world war he served Cherokee ounty across the seas for two years nd was discharged with honors.
