Thursday, Oct. 22, 193 NEWS PICK-UPS Mrs. Theirta Dickey called us u\ the other <iay to come d a ami have a look- at a huge ' unkia' Deberaux Biichfii 1 I gavd Bjr. It big . uough, v. , gv-s. to make a dog hou-c oat of for little Nettie's new white feist. Cut what won: us is how Dt-ueiaux raises ach biy stuff during the Jfcoosev; it a-snv*'!stratioi: wiih seeds ho get during Hoover's term in office. Tom Terrell, they te!l us. had to his p.it, one the "Nude Eel" didn't his pig, one the "Nude ICe!" dind't get, had a bad habit of squealing at night. So one evening when the little fellow was creating a little more than his U.VUuI UI-tut banco hi* leg was broken in some mysterious way. Of course Tom doesn't know who did it, but he's mighty suspicious. And just to get even he's going to cook some good old home-cured ham before long, leave his window up and let the aroma drift across the street. Then see what happens. Extremes: Sam Coff:n the o?iier Sunday with his overcoat on standing ne*t to Don Gentry who was in his shitr sleeves. Carrie Brittain now has a jeep. She charges a nickle for every ques- j tion asked, but don't let her fool j you too. The darned thing doesn't | work. We spent our only half dollar! trying to find one girl that Hied us. Look-alikes: Harvo E'kins and Boyd Abernathy. Right now there is nothing that j appeals to us more than a trip like Kkins took around the globe. Won-1 der why u Scout reporter couldn't i have been sent out on that thing Observation: Some people get temperament all balled up with bad taste. Observation No. 2. There is more work than there was a year ago. Not nearly as many loafers hang around the drug store. (Who made that crack about us) ! And just to wind up a perfectly non-sen ieal thing like this, Dixie Palmer gives us her contribution. "How long'., she queries, "should a man's legs be?" "Long enough to reach the ground'* we guess correctly. "Shucks*', she <ays, "You've heard that one before." "Yeah", pipes up smart-alecky Williamson, "when Lincoln was President"!
