MURPHY DOWNS HAYESVILLE IN DOUBLE HEADER Boys Win 26-18; Girls Take Their End of Fast Bill By 23-14 Score The Murphy basket-hall teams took a double header from Hayesville High, Friday night with the girls winning 23-14 and the boys 26-18. The Murphy girls played good offensive basket ball. Hayesville let Murphy lead in the first half but seemed to rally in the last half, but r.ot enough to out score the hard playing Murphy girls. White and Roberts played an outstanding game, making most of the score for Murphy. West and Ross played well for Hayesviile. From the time the starting whistle blew for the boy's game, it "*n" a hard battle for both teams. Both rnnads played good basket-ball, but Murphv took the lead in the last half and kept it. Scout News By Joseph Simons A Scout meeting was held at the wood workshop below the High school Tuesday night at 7 o'clock, under the leadership of Mr. Adams, Mr. Cobb and Mr. Mallonee. The boys are making advancement in many lines. Warren McDonald passed the merit badges, winning a free pass to the Henn Theatre. A hike is to be taken Saturday if weather permits by the "Lion" patrol, led by Harry Swaim. Eight new members joined the troop Tuesday night. These boys were coached by Mr. Adams 90 that they might become Tenderfoot Scouts. Many boys enjoyed boxing matches while other had fun in "piling on", and, "Bear In the Pit". The Cheroke Basket Ball League Formed For All Stars A twelve game schedule for all star basket ball games has been planned. A double header basketball game will be played, every TIiuisu?y fugiti at seven o'clock. The twelv^ game schedule has been divided into a six game schedule, the winners of the first will play the winner of the second half in the series of games. Those playing wiJ be teams from Unaka, Peachtree, Marble, and the Murphy Reserves. The game scheduled for tonight (Jan. 13) will be Unaka vs Marble, and Murphy Reserves vs Peachetree Murphy Will Meet Bryson Friday Night The Murphy .
