Makes Plans F or All-Day Meeting The Woman's Society of Christian Service met Tuesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Neil Davidson in East Murphy. The meeting was opened with sil ent prayer. Mrs. Tom Axley presided over the i business meeting. Mrs. Willard' Ax ley, program chairman, announced that in December the Society would have an all-day meeting at the church beginning at 10 a. m. with | "pot luck' dinner. At this time the annual Harvest Day program will be given with Mrs. C. L. Alvcrson as leader. New officers will be installed. Mrs. Himebough. representative of the Free Mthodist church, was a vis ; itor at the meeting and told of her work In Murphy. The program, "Things That Make i for our Peace" opened with quiet i music was presented by Mrs. T. A. Case. A hymr., "Sweet Peace, the Gift of God's Love" was followed j with the scripture by the Rev. New ton and meditation by Mrs. Case. Mrs. Himebough led the prayer. Pre ceding a talk by Mrs. C. L. Aiverson 1 which centered around the program topic, was a hymn, "God and Fath j er of All." Murphy Hi Gives Dance At Carnegie Library T Hallowe'en dance was sponsor ed by the Murphy High School, in the club room at the Library last Saturday evening. The room was decorated in the J traditional Hallowe'en colors. Sever al huge stacks of corn shucks in the dimly lighted room tended to em phasize the holiday atmosphere. A grinning. lighted Jack-o-lantem served as centerpiece on the long dining table. Proceeds will go toward buying a loud speaker for the school.
