Baxter Jones was born in Jackson county, .t' d reared here, on the waters of Savannah creek, a member ot one of the Jackson county's pro minent democratic families. He was educated in the public schools ! of county, and at Western Carolina I Teachers College and at the Unlver- j siiy of North Carolina. Mr. Jones i taught in this county, and was elec- ! ted to represent the county iu the General Assembly where he served j with distinction. After earning his! license to practice law. Mr. Jones re moved to Swain county, where he ; has been one of the prominent citi- j zens and an ardent worker in the democratic ranks, and in civic, church and fraternal affairs.
