Annual Tatham Reunion Cancelled For Duration The reunion of the Tatham family scheduled to be held at the old Tatham homestead in Valleytown. one mile east of Andrews, ha-s been cancelled for the duration of the war. In the past, the reunion has been held e?ch year in September. Andrews Methodists Hold Conference The last quarterly conference was held Tuesday evening at the An drews Methodist church. The Rev. W. L. Hutchins. superintendent of the Waynesville. district, was in charge. ANDREWS METHODIST CHURCH NEWS With the close of the summer holidays and the opening of school the choir has settled down to some real work for the winter months. A great interest is being shown in the entire music program of the church. Several new choir members have re cently joined the organization. The churches, the school faculty and the community are cooperating in a plan for a community chorus. Organization work has already be gun for this chorus. R. A. Camping Trip Members of the R. White, Scientist, will present a lecture -demonstration. "5000 Years of Light," in Andrews High School on Hednesday. Sep tember 9. at 11:00 a. m. according to an announcement by I. B. Hud son, Superintendent. For fourteen years Mr. White was Supervisor of Industrial Relations of the Edison Lamp Works Division of General Electric. In this position he worked and -associated with the pioneers of Edison and Steinmetz | Holy Communion Observed Holy Communion was observed at the Presbyterian church Monday morning at 10:00 with the Rev. Grant Folmsbee of Murphy, Vicar of the Church of the Messiah in charge. Arrangements have been complet ed for regular services to be held by the Episcopalians at the Andrews Presbyterian church. PERSONAL ITEMS Mr. and Mrs. Bill Cover have re turned from a ten days trip to New York City. On the return trip they stopped over in Stantonberg, N. C? for a visit with Mrs. Cover's mother. Mrs. W. H. Scruggs of Waycross. Ga.. and her companion. Mrs. Rosa Gross have arrived for a stay as guests of Mrs. Scruggs' son Dr. W. H. Scruggs and Mrs. Scruggs at the Terrace hotel. Mrs. Humphries, of Burgaw, sister-in-law of Mrs. Wheel . er. spent Saturday and Sunday, with I their son, Roy Wheeler, and Mrs. Wheeler at their home in Elizabeth , "on. Tenn. They midc the return I trip through the Smoky Mountain Park. and knew these men intimately. Mr. White's program emphasizes the accomplishments of today's men of science and also those of the dark ages who helped combat physical darkness. Thousands of dollars worth of equipment will be used and a complete research laboratory will be carried. Mr. White demonstrates, and vividly portrays with word pic tures. stirring scientific facts in this cavalcade of events. Picnic Supper A social meeting of all associated organizations of the Woman's miss ionary society of the Baptist church including the Y. W. A's. Business Woman's circle, and other circles will be held in the church parlor Tuesday evening, at 7:0 o'clock. Leaders of the various groups are Mrs. Charles T. Almond, president of the Woman's Missionary society; Mrs. Jack Herbert, president of the Y. W. A's; and Mrs. John Olson, president of the Business Woman's circle.
