SOCIAL EVENTS Miss Jenkins Weds Robert E. Minor Miss Emma Louise Jenkins, daughter, of Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Jenkins of Young Harris, Ga.. became the bride of Robert Erwdn Minor, COM, United States navy, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. P. Minor of Warrior, AJa. in a ceremony on Novembe 5, at 5:30 o'clock in the afternoon, at the home of the Morris, pastor of the Murphy Baptist church officiated, using the single ring ceremony. The vows were spoken before an improvised altar of white chrysanthemums, gladiolus and ferns. Candelabra holding lighted taper.i plsa were used. The candles were lighted by the ushers, Norman Minor and John Berry Prior to the ceremony, a pro gram of wedding music was pre sented by Mrs. J. Alton Morris. New As Tomorrow D. D. The traditional wedding marches were used lor the proces sional and recessional. During the ceremony Schubert's "Serenade" was softly played. The Bride wore a suit of blue with brown accessories. She carried a white Bible topped with a white orchid from which fell a shower of satin ribbon. Miss Clara Belle Jenkins of Douiflasville, Ga., sister of the bride, served as maid of honor. She wore a gold wool dress with brown accessories and a corsage of pink rosebuds. Mrs. John J. Berry matron of honor, wore an aqua wool dress with brown accessories and a corsage of pink rosebuds. Mrs. Jenkins, mother of the bride, wore a black dress with a corsage of red rosebuds. The bridegroom had as his best man, his brother, Edward Minor of Rutledge, Tennessee. Immediately after the cere mony, a receptnion was held at the home of the bride's parents. The table, covered with a lace cloth, was centered with a tiered wedding cake, topped with a min iature bride and sailor bride groom, which was served with coffee, to the guests. Following the reception, the couple left for a wedding trrip to Silver Springs, Fla. Mrs. Minor is a graduate of Young Harris academy. Young Harrirs college, and received her A. B. degree from Bessie Tift col lege. While in college, she was active in religious and social activities. Since her graduation from Bessie Tift, she has been a member of Murphy high cshool faculty. Mr. Minor is a graduate of Gardendale high school, Garden dale, Ala., and attended Alabama State Teachers college at Florence Eefore entering the navy, he was affiliated with the Tennessee Val ley Authority as an engineer. For I the past two years he has been serving in the navy in the South west Pacific. Out-of-town guests at the wed ding inluded: Mrs. Alief Lynn, Mrs. J. J. Dean, Mrs. W. B. Local Couples Married At Double Wedding Miss Doris Forrester, daughter, of Mr. and Mrs H. C. Forrester, and Joe Causby with the U. 6. Navy at Hiwassee Dam, and Miss Evon Davidson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Davidson and H. C. Forrester, Jr., of the Marines were married at a double weeding at First Baptist church in Blue Ridge, Ga. Monday afternoon at 5 o'clock. The Rev. Mr. Cochrain officiated, using the double ring ceremony. Miss Lynn Forrester served as maid of honor for her sister and Mrs. Forrester. Mr. Forrester had as best man, his brother, John Forrester, who was recently released form a Japanese prison camp. Don Holl- i iday served as Mr. Oau^by's best . man. Mrs. C&usby wore a light bule j suit with black accessories and a > corsage of pink roses. Mrs. Forrester wore a water melon suit with black accessories with which she wore a corsage of white roses. Miss Forrester was dressed In black with black accessories and wore a pink rose corsage. Following the ceremony a re ception was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Forrester, uncle i'nd aunt of Mrs. Causby and Mr. Forrester. Immediately after the reception the couples left for a short honey moon t* ip after which Mr. Forres ter will return to his post at Camp LeJune, and Mrs. Forrester win toe with her parents in Murphy. Mr. and Mrs. Causby will make their home at Hiwassee Dam for the present. Those from Murphy attending the wedding were: Mr. and Mrs H. C. Forrester, Ms. J. E. Forres ter, grandmother of Mrs. Causby and Mr. Forrester, Mrs. David son, mother of M.S. Forrester. Mr. and Mrs. William H. Wholt, Jr., after a two-weeks' visit here with Mrs. Wohlt's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. B Gray, left Tuesday for Houston, Texas where they will make their home. Mrs. Miller !s Program Leader Of Woman's Club Mrs. Harry Miller, chairman of Literature, will be leader of the program at the Murphy Woman-* club meeting Wednesday after noon at 3:15 o'clock. Her topic will be "What Are You Reading?" In observance of National Book Wek, Mrs. Miller will re view a number of the latest books. Assisting Mrs. Miller will be Mrs. Sara Lloyd who will outline some of the new books for chil dren, stressing those which are suitable for Christmas gifts, and Mrs. W. M. Arley who will review Wooloot's Life and Letters, Mrs. Bruce Cover of Asheville was the guest of Mr. and Mrs. H. A Mattox here this week.
