SOCIAL EVENTS MR. AND MRS. BOYD DAVIS Davis'Fox Vozvs Are ' Exchanged On March 3 Miss Lona Belle Fox, daughter ct Mrs. Hattie E. Fox and the late Kent C. Fox of Granite Falls, Route No. 1, became the bride of Boyd Hillard Davis in a ceremony at the Bethlehem Baptist Church in Alexander County on March 3 im mediately after the morning wor ship strvice. Rev. A. E. Watts, the bride's pastor, officiated. The altar was grouped with palms, ferns and floor baskets of white gladioli and statica. Miss Mildred Hefner, pianist, played "The Rosary", and Miss Vir ginia Plaster, soloist, sang "Be cause". "To a Wild Rose" was played softly during the double ring ceremony. The traditional wedding marches were used for processional and recessional. The bride wore a suit of teal blue with white and black acces sories and an orchid corsage. Mrs. Davis was graduated from the Oak Hill high school and Mars Hill college. She taught school in Alexander county. The bridegroom, son of Fred Davis and the late Mrs. Davis of Murphy, was graduated from Mur phy high school and Mars Hill col lege. He was recently discharged from the Army as a Tech. Prizes for the bingo games have been donated by the club women, mostly. The committee is headed by Mrs. 11 Bueek, assisted by the follow ing: Mrs. Dale Lee, Mrs. T. A. Case. Shower Given Bride-Elect I Miss Frances Waldroup, Miss 1 Willie McKinney and Miss Edna j Ramey were hostesses at a mis ctllaneous shower Friday evening | at the home of Mrs. Henry Hyatt ] complimenting Miss June McCoy, j whose marriage to Rex Hall of Detroit. Michigan, will take place some time in April. The home was attractively deco rated with spring flowers from the Hyatt gardens. Recipes and advice to the bride in the Southwest Pacific. Mr. and Mrs. A. O. Hefner en tertained the wedding party and a fcv close friends at a cake cutting at their home in Brookford after the rehearsal Saturday night. The bridal party was entertained at a luncheon in the Hotel Hickory im mediately after the ceremony. Out of town guests were Miss Eloise Davis, Murphy, sister of the bridegroom; Pvt. Roy E. Fox, Ft. Bragg, brother of the bride- Miss Virginia Plaster, Hickory; Mildred Hefner, Crainerton; Miss Nina Mae Smith and Herman Kizer of Gran ite Falls. Immediately after the ceremony the couple left on a trip south. After April first, they will be at home in Hickory. Miss Helen Hampton , Lucius Lochaby Wed Miss Helen Elizabeth Hampton, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs. James Hilary Hampton of Murphy, and Lucius Frederick Lochaby, son of Mrs. Nettie Lochaby of Duck town, Tenn., were married in the First Methodist church Sunday at the close of the regular morning service. The Kev. C. A. Smith, brother-in-law of the bride, assist ed by the Rev. Ralph H. Taylor, officiated, using the double ring ceremony. The chancel of the church was banked with native greenery with crystal baskets of white magnolia blossoms in the back, and floor baskets of white gladiolus, white snapdragons and Oregon ferns on each side of the altar The bride wore a blue wool suit with a shoulder corsage of white gardenias and carried a white Bible, a farewell gift of TVA em ployees at Fontana Dam. Mrs. Locaby was graduated from Murphy high school and from Bre vard college. For the past three and a half years, she has been em ployed by the TVA at Fontana Dam. Mr. Lochaby recently received his discharge from the army air corps, and is employed at Duck town. The parents of the bride enter tained at their home immediately after the ceremony, with a buffet dinner for relatives and out of town guests. After a short wedding trip, the couple will reside in Ducktown. Out of town guests at the wed ding included: Mr. and Mrs. L. P. Hampton, Matney Reed and Will iam Dunn of Etowah, Tenn., Dr. v/ere written by the guests, and games were played. The bride elect received a large number of lovely gifts which she opened and displayed, after which punch and cookies were served to 22 guests present. Ranger 4-H Club Has Meeting By Loretta Taylor, Reporter The Ranger 4-H Club held its regular meeting March 5. Betty Kate Crisp, president, presided. The secretary, A. G. Cearley, re ported several new members. Madelyn Gibson, song leader, led us in our opening song, "America", after which we repeated our pledge and motto. Then the meeting was turned over to the agents. Miss Mary Corn well demonstrated how to make a simple apron to the girls and explained our clothing project requirements. Mr. A. Q. Ketner met with the boys and made definite project plans. Pvt. Gene Roberson has return ed to Camp Beale, Calif., after spending a few days furlough with his father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Roberson.
