C. i Training Program For Ground Force Troops Announced The Army Ground Forces six year plan for the training of ap proximately 571,195 ground force troops of the National Guard of the United States has been an nounced by Lieutenant General Oscar W. Griswold, Commanding General, Seventh Army, operative in the 3rd Army Area. In announcing the plan, Gener al Griswold emphasized that ac tual training of the National Guard will continue to a function of each i state. However ,the Army Ground Force will detail Regular Army i instructors, under the supervision ' of the Armies, who will be respon sible for the supervision of the 1 training programs. These instruc tors will be assigned to units down to and including the battalion level. The six-year plan, which pro- 1 vides for the progressive instruc tion of units in each state, is de- j signed to standardize the training of the National Guard all over the country. During the first and second years individuals and units will be trained on a company level; during the third and fourth years on a battalion level; during the fifth year on a regimental combat team and combat command level; and during the sixth year on a division level. The plan will go into effect when individual or ganizations reach an established quota of 45% of the required num ber of enlisted personnel and 80% of the required number of officers.
