C. W. Gordon, Lambcr Dealer Dies Monday Funeral W. Gordon, 41, prominent lumber dealer and civic leader of Ashe ville who died early Monday tol 4owtng a )?"f illness, were held ttlps Wednesday la the First Presbyterian Church of Asheville. The Rev C. Crier Davis offld arted and burial was In Riverside Cemetery. Gordon was a native of Aahe vUle, the son of the late Clarence and Lucy Walker Gordon, and a brother of Bruce Gordon of Mur phy. He was president of the Gor don Lumber Company of Ashe ?. ille. and up until the time of his sudden illness last summer, vhe j was active in civic and religious life of the community. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, served as a deacon and was chairman of the board of deacons in 1949 and 1950, and had recently been elected for a sec ond term. He was president of the Asheville Rotary Club and served as dis trict treasurer from 1948 through 1950. and was governor of Rota ry's 280th district when he be came ill. Surviving are the widow; a son. "Thomas Phelps Gordon: two daughters. Linda Sue and Wini fred Ann Gordon, all of Asheville: three brothers. J. Bruce Gordon -! Murphy. Cmdr.
