Miss Adrienne Glisscn of Wash- j ington, L>. C., was maid of honor. iter dress was of blue satin and nylon net. Her head-dress was a b?nu>jau of net and rosebuds. She wore nylon mitts and carried a nosegay 01 pink radiance rose buds and lilies of the valley In a [ frill of blue nylon. Little Vickie and Eva Coy John son, nieces of the bride were flow er girls. They wore dresses of pink and yellow organdy and car ried nosegays of rose buds and valley lilies. The mother of the bride wore a powder blue dress with navy ac cessories and a purple orchid. Fred Vestal Johnson, Jr., bro ther of the bride, served as best man, and Paul Padgett with the U. S. Navy, and Jack Berry of Washington, D. C., and Dr. Harry Miller and Duke Whitley of Mur phy were ushers. Immediately after the ceremo ny, the bride's parents entertain ed with a reception at New Regal Hotel. Mr. and Mrs. C. W, Cover of Andrews. Mrs. B. W, Whitfield. Mrs. H. A Mattox and Mrs J. H Phaup assisted in receiving. The bride's table, spread .vith a linen cloth, was centered with a three-tiered wedding cake, topped with a miniature bride and groom. Mrs William Adams and Virs. Walter Mauney poured punch As sisting 111 serving were: Miss Eliz abeth Cray, Mrr. Bob Cheney, Mrs. L D. Schuyler. Mrs. Clara Mae Sponce and Miss Barbara Adams. Mrs. Ray McDonald, president, used as the opening hymns. 'Breat Thou th? Bread of Life' and "Wonderful Words of Life". Mrs J. M. Ramsey led prayer, and. Mrs. Leila Sims gave the de votional and used as her subject, "Love Based on the Scriptures". ' Mrs. Ray McDonald read a poem. "Yes, I'll Visit Too", fol 'owed by a song, "Amazing Grace". Mrs. Benn Mann gave the clos ing prayer. Immediately after the meeting he members present enjoyed a surprise birthday party for Mrs. . P. Calhoun. Cake and coffee was served by the hostess. B. W. C. Has Studv * On Home Missions "Th? Do Not Know" was the subject on Home Missions discuss ed Monday evening by Mrs. J. Alton Morris at a meeting of the B. W. C. of First Baptist Church in the home of Miss Addie Mae Cooke. The members had a pot luck supper at 6:30, and the special mission program followed. An of fering for home missions was ta ken. The following were present: Mesdames Morris, Alvin Buchan an, W. A. Hoover, J. W. Donley, ' D. Chandler, J. L. Savage, and Miss Cooke. Miss Mary Shields Weds Dr. Young, Duke Chapel Miss Mary Franoes Shields, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Shields of Murphy, became the bride of Dr. William Glenn Young. Jr. son of Dr. and Mrs. W. G Young of Washington, D. C? February 28 at 6 p. m. in Duke University Chapel. Durham. The double-ring ceremony was Derformed by the Rev. James T. CVeland. A program of wedding music Has given by Mrs. Mildred Hen I rirlx, organist. The chapel was decorated with woodwariila ferns, wrought iron candelabra, * burning white can dles. and wrought iron vaces filled with white flowers. Her shoes were of white satin. Har veil of all silk Illusion fell ftom a matching lace clounch cap. She carried a prayer book topped with whibe orchids showered with white satin. Miss Anne Shields of Murphy, sister of the bride, was martd of honor. She wore an aqua mylon tulle gown, which a halter neck line with bolero, a full skirt, bal lerina :ongth, matching shoes and clounch cap. She carried a bou quet of pink roses tied with matching ribbon. Tb- bridegroom's father served as his best man. Groomsmen were C. Louis Shields oP Wallace, brother of the bride, Robert Shoeffer of Wash ington D. C.. brother-in-law of the bridegroom. The bride's mother wore a strcot length navy blue crepe dresr with matching accessories anH a corsage o' white fbses. The bridegroom's mother w-jre a street length navy blue crepe dress, taffeta trim, navy and white accessories with a corsage of pink roses. Following the wedding a recep tion was given by the bride's par ents at the Lamp Pout, Chapel Hill Street, Durham. They Were assisted by Miss Phyllis Sehoek. The couple left for a wedding trio to Bermuda. ?? The bride chose a pink suit of wool whip cord with a white blouse and navy accessories for her traveling costume She wore a corsage of white orchids. Mrs. Young is a graduate of Mars Hill College and the Univer sity of North Carolina. She is on the Duke Hospital staff in Dur ham. Dr..Young, a graduate of Duke University Medical School, is a member of Kappa Alpha and an honorary member of Phi Beta Kappa and Alpha Omicron Alpha. After returning from their hon eymoon the couple will make their home in Portsmouth, Va.. where Lt Young is stationed at the na val hospital. PEKSONALS Mrs. Cecil Henry and her moth ?r.
