Roadway Express Picks Andrews For Truck Stop Roadway Express, Inc., of Ak ron, Ohio, has picked Andrews for their trailer truck stop for trucks routed from Winston-Sa lem and reversed. Beginning Tues day, April 29, five trucks will come to Andrews from Chattan ooga and they will be met by five ether trucks from Winston-Salem. The five drivers from Chattanooga will exchange traitors with the 11 Winston-Salem trucks and return to Chattanooga. The five Winston- { Salem crews will rest eight hours, j and then return to Winston-Sa lem Since Roadway Express operates several thousand trucks through- j out the country and covers more ( territory than any other trucking company In the country, the town j of Andrews can congratulate it self upon being selected as a re lay station. Moore 107 Valley River Atv, r. k. c Andrews Lions Entertain Teams The Andrews Lions Club enter tained the High School Basket bal teams and coaches at a banquet at the Youth Building Thursday night. Th? club president. Dr. Charles Van_Gorder, welcomed gueets and presided over a business session During the business meeting. Lions Huls, Katzaman and Babb ington were named on a nomi nating committe? to select a slate of officers who will take office July 1. They were instructed to make their report at the next reg ular meeting Lions Club convention informa tion was presented by Herman Brauer. President Van Gorder discussed the Chamber of Commerce pro posed school band. He asked that a report be made at the next meet ing on plans for raising part of the band fund. Dr. Van Gorder introduced Coaoh John Kupice who thanked the Lions Club on behalf of him self and the teams, and who then awarded letters to the following players: Elizabeth Bell, Captain; Helen Holloway, co-captain; Ceclle Holloway. Sue Crawford, Viola Nelson, Derreberry, Dorcas McGuirtf; Doris Holder, Barbara Barton, Elizabeth Postell, Anna Marl? Butler, Bobby Conley, Joy Collett, Thomasine Almond and Helen Whitaker. Boys receiving letters were: Captain Charles Battle, Lawin Truett, Loyla Trull, Cecil Rogers, Gerald Wheeler, Dean Truett, Jim Cathey. Billy Cruse, Jack Pullium, Dan Dills and Ned Stewart. One player, Cecil Frazler, was unable to be present due to sickness. Dr. Van Gorder recognized guests. Miss Rhth Hamilton, Mrs. Joe Sursavage and H. F. Frye. He then presented Mrs. G. W. Cover,, who spoke on behalf of the Board of Trustees of the An drews Schol Unit, in thanking the Lions Club for the courtesy to the teams and in thanking the coaches for their work with the students Supt. J. E. Rufty, also thanked the Lions Club' for their interest in school athletics. He discussed briefly the place of athletics in the school, stressing the impor tance of sportsmanship and school loyalty. R Wilson Dies After Long Illness Charles Henry Wilson, age 76, died at his home in Andrews. Thursday, following a lingering illness. Mr. Witeon was a native of Beckley, W. Va? and had cbme to Swain County when a young man. lie was for many years employed by the W. M. Bitter Lumber Co. He h?d resided In Andrews for the past twenty-six years and was until his illness, employed by the Tennessee and North Carolina Railroad. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs A. J. Adams and Mrs James Mulkey, both of Andrews; and tour sons, Ed, of Montgomery, Ala ; Carl and Forest, of Savon t-aii. Georgia; and Charles, of Ma f ivtar, W. Va.
