To Play Isabella The Andrews Baseball Club now stands it the top of the Blue Ridge Mountain League. Getting off to a slow start with two losses right off the bat. the local nine turned on their power and snapped back to make their present record a 9 win and 4 loss affair. The losses have been compensat ed by subsequent wins over each team. Second place in the League is Isabella. Tenn. The neighboring state team would like nothing bet ter than to take two in a row from Andrews ts they meet for a double header on July Fourth. Of course, the local lads have no such ideas Luke Ellis. Andrews manager, states that the baseball games of the Fourth should offer the best in excitement and good hard play. Leading the local boys in hitt-! ing are Spunk Cagle and Buddy ! Foster, each with a 400 plus sea son average. The season average of the entire team is .300. On the roster for the games of the big Fourth are Warren Deyer mond. Spunk Cagle, Babe Howell. Fred H. Pass, 70 Dies Suddenly Fred Davidson Pass, 70, of* Hayesviile died suddenly Monday afternoon a short time after being rushed to a Murphy hospital Funeral services were held Wed nesday. July 2, at 11 a. m. in Hayesviile Methodist Church. The pastor, the Rev. G C. Green, and the Rev. L. P. Smith, pastor of the Baptist Church, officiated and bur ial was in the church cemetery with Ivie Funeral Home in charge. The body lay in state in the church from 9:30 to 11 a. m. Pall bearers were: Wilbur McCombs. Dillard McCombs, Bass Hyatt. Vic tor H. Bell. Allen J Bell, Allen J. Bell. Jr., Anderson D. Bell and John A. Davidson. Honorary pallbearers were: Bod Tiger. He v as a native of Clay County, the son of the late William Bas eomb and Mary Davidson Pass. In his vouth he moved to Young J Harris. Ga.. and attended school 'here. He went from there to At lanta where he was employed with Dinkins and Davidson Hardware Company for 23 years. From there he went to Cornelia. Ga., and op erated a erugstore for a number of rears He returned to Hayesviile in 1920 and formed the Pass Drug Company. He sold the drug com pany in 1936. and operated the| Pass Service Station in partner ship with W. T Hunt. Mr. and Mrs. Pass operated the (warding house known for many vears as "The McClure House". Pass represented Clay County in he General Assembly in 1949. and erred as Sergeant at Arms in the 'ast session in 1951. His father. William Bascomb Pass, represent d Clay County in the 1923 Gen eral Assembly. H' served as mayor of Hayes ?ille for several terms, was area supervisor of the Works Progress Administration in Clay County during that period, was a member >f the Board of Election of Clay "ounty. a member of the board of ommissioners of the town of Hayesviile.
