Only 5C2 X-Rays Taken In Andrews Five hundred and two free chest 1 X-ray pictures were taken at the mobile X-ray unit in Andrews through Saturday, August 0. Flay W. Sellers, health educator, says "This total falls short of expecta tion as local citizens 15 years of age and older fail to take advan tage of a program they have made possible." I X-ray officials urge all minist ers, Sunday School superinten dents, organizational presidents, and others to announce again this important program to arouse in terest and response. They also urge people failing to get their free X-ray picture in Andrews to take advantage of this opportuni ty at the mobile unit remaining in Murphy from now until September 3. This unit will be working each day Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a. m. to 4 p. m. Everyone getting their x-ray pic ture can expect a written report within two and one-half weeks All film will be shipped to Raleigh to be developed and interpreted. Re ports will be sent to your health department which processes the information and sends it to local citizens. Mrs. J. M. Hall Dies In Tennessee Mrs. J. M. HaH, mother of J. E. Hall, superintendent of the Peach tree Prison Camp, died at 1 a. in. Tuesday at her home in Athens, 1 Tenn , after a two weeks' illness. Funeral services were held at 2 p. m. Thursday itoday) in Athens. Survivors include three sons. J. E. Hall of .Murphy. Dr. Mark Hall Robert W. Gibson Taken Bv Death Robert William Gibson, 61, died suddenly Saturday, August 0, at his home at Hiawassee, Ga. He was a farmer and a veteran of World War 1. Surviving are the widow, Mrs Lillie Simpson Gibson; four sons, Marvin, Winferd, Sanford and Wil lis all of Hiawassee, two daugh ters, Mrs. Ruth Wheeler of Hayes viile. and Mrs Ruby McFalls of' Hiawassee; one brother, Richard, and one sister. Miss Nina Gibson both of Hiawassee. Funeral services were held at 2 p. m Monday in Lower Boll Bap tist Church near Hiawassee. The Rev. Charlie Hogsed and the Rev. A permit must be obtained to I import swine for slaughter at a recognized slaughtering establish ment The swine must not be in fected with Vesicular Exanthema. Feeder pigs may be imported upon obtaining a permit, provided they originate direct from farms and In states free from Vesicular Exan thema and have met other health reouirements. No hogs fed on raw garbage shall be moved into or within the! state except for immediate slaugh ter direct to an approved slaugh tering establishment and subject to ante mortem and post mortem inspection. The swine must be assembled in clean and disinfected yards and transported in vehicles or rail road cars cleaned and disinfected under supervision of Federal or State regulatory officials. Ail swine imported into the state in violation of regulations shall be held in quarantine at the owner's expense until released in writing by the State Veterinarian. John C. Strange Taken Bv Death News has been received here of the death of John C. Strange of Bessemer City, brother of the late Henry A. Strange. Mr. Strange died July 27. He is survived by the widow Mrs. Marv Strange, and two small daughters of the home and ten children by a former marriage and one sister. Mrs. Lela Clowers of Knoxville, Tenn., and several Marine Corps Recruit Depot. During the past eight weeks of intensive training and as a result of field experience' and classroom lectures, the new Marine has be came well versed in such milita ry subjects as precision drill, first aid. hygiene, and field tactics. He climaxed his recruit training by winning the marksman's medal on the rifle range when he fired a score of 196 out of a possible 250 during his weapon training. In addition to firing the famed Garand rifle for qualification, he fired other infantry weapons such as the .45 calibre pistol, carbine, and Browning Automatic rifle. He also witnessed demonstration fir ing of the machine gun. mortar and flame thrower. Before entering the Marines, he was a student. He attended Vic toria School. G'astonia. N. C. from which he was graduated. To Conduct Final Episcopal Bible School Services Final services (or the Episcopal Bible School that has been con ducted in Andrews (or the past two weeks will be held at the Epis copal Chapel. Friday at 7:30 p m. There will be a display of the handiwork ot the children. The Rev. Rhett Winters and student minister. Douglas Pitt, will be in charge of the (inal exercises. The Bible School had an enroll ment o( 34 children. Mr. and Mrs Winters ar.d Mr. Pitt conducted the school. Miss Judy Bristol was organist. Mrs. R. A. Dewar was in' charge of refreshments and other arrangements. On Monday afternoon, members of the Bible School and their par ents were picnic guests of Mrs. ? R. A Dewar at her home. nieces and nephews. Mr. Strange was born and rear ed in Cherokee County. He left here about 23 years ago. He was living in Bessemer City at the time of his death.
