C. of First Baptist Church, Andrews, met at the home of Mrs. Lu B. Womack Thursday at 7:30 p. m. Mrs. Polly McGuire and Mrs. Mellie Stewart were co hostesses. Mrs. A. B. Brown Is Assigned To Company In Korea With the Eighth Army in Korea ?Army Cpl. Ben A. Brown of Murphy, N. C., recently was as signed to the 30th Ordinance Hea vy Maintenance Company in Ko rea. He arrived in the combat zone on September 2 and will serve as a tank recovery man in his new or ganization, which supports front line units of the Eighth Army by repairing heavy vehicles and wea pons. Corporal Brown wears the UN Service Ribbon and the Korean Service Ribbon with 3 campaign stars. He was a truck driver for Geor gia. Carolina Freight Lines before entering the Army in June 1950. He Is the son of Ben H. Brown of Murphy. Brilliant Foliage Marks Blue Ridge Rangers report that autumn color may reach its peak along the Blue Ridge the week-end of Octo ber 11 and in the Great Smokies between October 15 and 25. New objectives include Mount Pisgah, now accessible by improv ed gravel road connecting with U. S. 276 at Wagon Road Gap; the new Mile High Swinging Bridge etop Grandfather Mountain; and Roan Mountain now reached by a new Forest Service road connect ing with N. C. 261 (too new to be on most maps) leading north from Bakersville. The new Great Smokies link connecting with Soco Gap?Mile High Overlook of the Blue Ridge Parkway?is also open.
