VOTE FOR Dick Mauney To the voters of Cherokee County In offering myself as a candidate to represent Cherokee County in the 1953 < leneral Assembly. I do so only because of ray desire to be of service to this great county of ours I have no special interests nor do I have any ax to grind. There is more to being a Legislator and truly representing our County than being elected to office. If my experience in the State Capltot has done anything?it lias taught me to avoid the pitfalls and mistakes a new Legislator would make that might make his term in the General Assembly a lost one. As your Representative I am able to go to Raleigh with my eyes open and at least some knowledge of how to truly represent you?my fellow citizens?and Cherokee County. Of course being a Democrat will help me get things done for our county. During the 1951 session of the Legislature there were only eleven Republican total membership of the House of Representatives being 120. So you see that to send a Republican to the House is only to cause Cherokee County to be without the proper representation to succeed in accomplishing things that would be helpful to your county and mine. If the Citizens of Cherokee County elect me to the State Legislature they will be represented 24 months out of every two years rather than just the three months that the Legislature is in session. I am sorry that it has been impossible for me to ask all of the voters inthe county personally to vote for me so I want to say at this time that I shall be grateful for your vote on November 4.
