Scouting The SERVICES "Big Brother" Grant and his Christmas "Little Brother." GRANT IS "BROTHER" PENSACOLA NAVAL AIR STATION, FLA ?Frank D. Grant private, USMC, son of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Grant of Murphy, at tached to the Marine Corps at the Naval Air Station, was one of the Waves, Sailors and Marines to act as a "Big Brother" or "Big Sister" to a child, who wouldn't ? ordinarily have a Christinas. The personnel went all out to gi|e them a taste of the spirit and tradition associated with the joy ous holiday. After a traditional dinner of turkey with all the trimmings, the children watched Santa Claus ar rive in a helicopter, and enjoyed an hour of movie cartoons. The highlight of the party was the distribution of toys and stock ings filled with candy and fruit given to all of the children. The toys and money used for the party were donated by gener ous mijitary personnel. West, 21, son of Mr and Mrs. Bruce West, of Andrews, N. C., is a recent graduate of the Non-commissioned Officers Leadership School here. The intensive three week train ing course is designed to develop qualities of individual leadership and to acquaint Marines with the latest tactics and equipment of modern warfare. A former student of Andrews High School, West enlisted in the Marine Corps in February 1951. Before being assigned duty at Camp Lejuene with the Eighth Engineer Battalion, a unit of Force Troops, Atlantic, West completed his Marine recruit training at Par ris Island, S. C. It's not the brains that matter most, but that which guides them ?the character, the heart, gener ous qualities, progressive ideas.
