Andrews Lions Stage Ladies Night Banquet The Andrews Lion* Club held "Ladles Night", Thursday Night at the Shell running Room at 7 p. m. L,ion President Herman Braurer opened the meeting, railing en Lion Vttoid Gobblns for the Invo cation, followed by song led by Lion E. A. Munger. Lion Brauer Introduced Lion H. Bueck of Murphy as Toast master. After several remarks of the pro gress at the Andrews Lions Club, Lion Richard Cooley of Nentahala wij introduced who in turn Intro duced the speaker B. L. Mc Glamery of Franklin. His subject was on "Liberty, In telligence, did Our Nations Safe ty", which is the Lion Internation al's slogan. Lkm Bueck presented Lion Dr. Charles O. Van Gorder with a Past-President's (Pin. and also a gift was presented to Lioness Helen Van Gorder from the Club. Lioness Ruth Baldwin was pre sented a Hanson Cigarette Lighter, for her outstanding work at the Lion's Booth ?t the Cherokee County Fair. The most enjoyable event of the evening was the door prises, pre sided over by Lion Bob White of Murphy, assisted by Lion A. B. Chandler, Jr., Lion Raul Craw ford, and Lioness Myra Walker. Each Lioness wes presented a Note Book Favor. / Other guests for the evening were Lioness Bueck, Lion and Lioness Bob White, Lion and Lion ess Bob Easley, all of Murphy also Or. and Mrs. Floyd Bollock and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Rogers. The dining room was decorated with the traditional Lion Colors and Autumn flowers. Llotmess Myra Walker, Helen Van Gorder and Lioness Tibbett were recog nized for the decorations. A turkey dinner was served to the approximately 85 attending members and guests. j The Board of Directors of the Andrews Lions Club will meet at the home of A. B. At the clinics preference is given school children It was reported. County Crafters Get 21 State Fair Awards Seventeen Cherokee County crafters took away 21 prizes at the N. C State Fair last week while three out of four aeed corn ex hibit* from the county also took awards. The crafters took 11 blue ribbons, and one white. The blue ribbons were awarded on three pewter pins earbobs and buttons; an etc hed aluminum tray; a fancy sten ciled apron; a linen handtowel a cotton handtowel, both woven; and a cotton luncheon set and linen luncheon act also woven. I 'Mrs. B. E. Warner, of this county demonstrated metal work in the craft section of the "Village of Yesteryear", a new feature of the fair. This section is to be continu ed as a permanent feature at the I Slate Fair, and crafters will be of fered ? market for their crafts as well ag competition ig exhibiting.
