Six Automobile Dewlr, in Chero
kee County er now offering free
inspections of automobiles and
trucks as pert of The Caroline
Safety League's 19M Voluntary
vehicle Safety Check campaign.
These dealers have qualified as
official inspection stations and ere
authorised to display the Red
and-White inspection station em
blem in their windows.
Vehicles which are found safe,
or ere made safe, are being sward
ed the green windshield sticker
which signifies they are "Approv
These stickers have the approv
al, and carry the signature, of State

minor repairs bad been made.
The new mechanical safety cam
paign is on a strictly voluntary
basis. No law requires a motorist
to carry th? sticker on the wind
shield of his car?though there has
been some unofficial intimation in
the case of an accident the sticker
woul be a help. /
The dealerships which have been
designated as Official Inspection
Stations have agreed to glve free
check-ups In accordanc with an ap
proved manual. They are checking
brakes, lights, glazing, steering,
tires, windshield wipers and horns

of Andrews; Burch Motors, Dickey

Co.. Franklin Motor Co., and E. C.
Moore, all of Murphy.
Mrs. Roxie Martin
Dies In Tenn.
Mrs. Glenn (Roxie) Martin, 45, of
Isabella, Tenn., died at 9 p. m. at
her home of a heart attack. She
was born and reared in Cherokee
County and made her home here
until seven years ago.
Funeral services, followed by
burial In the church cemetery,
wer? held Thursday, Ap. 29, at
Rogers Chapel at Ranger.
Survivors include the husband.
Glenn Martin; three daughters,
Mrs. Dorothy Jones of Murphy;
Mrs. Peggy Johnson, Murphy, Rt
2; and Miss Betty Martin of the

er, Mrs. W. M. Ramsey of Oak
Ridge, Tenn.; and half brothers,
