Ray and daughter, Becky Jo left Friday for a two weeks' vacation at West Palm Beach, Del Ray Beach and Miami, Fla. Mrs. Bill Wohlt left Saturday i for her home in Houston, Texas' after a week's visit here with her j mother and sisters. Mr. and Mrs. W. P. Odom had as recent guests, Mrs. Guy Cart ter of Asheville. Dr. P L. Elliott, president of Gardner-Webb Col lege, Hot Springs. Mr. and Mrs. Claude Love of Raleigh. J. W. Odom of Charlotte and Mr. and Mrs. Oran Queen and children, Nadeane and Danny of Clinton, Tenn. Jerry Aiken of Greenville. S. C. arrived here Tuesday to spend several days visiting Mr. and Mrs W. V. Costello. Mr. Aiken graduated this spring from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Ky. Mr. and Mrs. Loren Davi3 and daughter, Judy, Arden Davis and Mrs. Roy V. Lovingood attended the Southeastern Travelers Fash ion Show at the City Auditorium in Atlanta this week. Jimmy Simpson of Franklin spent last week here with his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Franklin. Sara Yarner singleton is spending this week with Mr. and Mrs. Joe Fulmer and family in Sylva. John Wrinn of Due West. S. C. spent the week end with Mr. and Mrs. Quay Ketner. Edwin Winchester of Macon, Ga. spent the week end at his home here. Donald Wallace of Knoxville is visiting his grandmother, Mrs. Arthur Akin. Mrs. Bill Brandon and Miss Emily Sword spent last week in Chattanooga with Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Duvall. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Duvall and baby Paul Brandon returned with them for a visit. Miss Ann Leatherwood returned to Knoxville Monday after a two week's visit here with her father, P. H. Leatherwood and other rela tives. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Gennett have returned from a visit with the latter's sisters, Mrs. Ethel Wolfe of Knoxville and Mrs. Ruth Crowe of Tellico Plains, Tenn. Miss Judy Sneed who attended the Youth Conference at Montreat last week and conducted a wor ship service on the petition "Thy sit on the Youth Fellowship Coun Will Be Done", was given a bid to cil of Asheville Presbytery, with all expenses paid. She left Mon day to return to Montreat. Mr. and Mrs. P. R. Fields Of Wood Service Is Held I Fields of the Wood was the scene of an annual gathering Sun ' day, June IS. The occasion was the celebration of the fifty-first anniversary of the "Arise-Shine" of the Church of God of Prophecy. I The program, which began at 12:30 p. m. and ended at 2:S0 p. m. featured special music and songs and a special program by the orphanage children of the church's orphanage at Cleveland, Tenn. Bishop M. A. Tomilsan, general overseer read the scripture and gave the welcome address. G. A. Wilson, manager of Fields of the Wood gave information of the activities of the Fields of the Wood the past year. Grady Kent, general C. P. M. A. secretary gave a meaeage and the new open air pavilion was dedi cated. . The march up the long steps to the place of Prayer was omitted, due to the heavy rain during the celebration. Sun day in a Murphy hospital, were held at 10 a. m. Tuesday in Sun set Cemetery, with the Rev. J. Alton Morris officiating. Surviving, in addition to the parents are the paternal grand mother. Mrs. C. I. Calhoun and the maternal grandmother, Mrs. Charlie Sutton, both of Murphy. Ivie Funeral Home was In charge. Regal Club Meets With Mrs. Bell The Regal Club met Friday night in the home of Mrs. W. A. Bell with Mrs. Bessie Dickson and Mrs. S. D Akin serving as joint hostesses. Plans were discussed for the re assembling of the fountain which was removed last year from the center of the square and the plac ing of it on the grounds of the Carnegie Library. Miss Phyllis Snider showed a sound picture on the growth, life and care of roses and several oth er beautiful flowers. Mrs. W. H.
