Hershel Hayes also o I Route 3, Murphy. Cpl. Hayes, son of the late Mat tie and Joshua Hayes, is now serv ing as Master Sergeant- with the 11th Airborne, Fort Campbell, Ken tucky. He served with the 24th Inf. Division and the 40th Div. in Korea. The wedding performed by Claude W. Mullinax, Justice of Peace. Sunday night, March 6 at Ellijay, Georgia. The bride wore a light blue taf feta dress with white accessories. After a ten day furlough Cpl. Hayes has returned to Fort Camp bell where he will Immediately be followed by his wife. Cpl. and Mrs. Hayes will make their home In Clarksville, Tennes see. Miss Craig Is Bride of Laney Miss Millie Craig, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. N. Craig of Le titia, N. C. was married to Fred Laney. son of Mr. Will Laney of Marble Rt. 1. last Saturday morn ing. March 12th at Blue Ridge, Georgia. Mr. and Mrs. Lionel McHan, the bridegroom's sister and bro ther-in-law, and Mrs. Myrtle Amos attended the wedding. The bride wore ? navy blue suit, a beige and blue accessories. Her flowers were o cluster of bronze orchids. The bridegroom is employed at the Commonwealth Lumber Com pany in Murphy. Mr. and Mrs. Laney will reside at Marble, N. C. PERSONALS \Mr. and Mrs. T. A. Case spent last week end In Athens, Tenn. with Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Huber. Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Rush have returned to Murphy after spending several days In Tennessee visiting friends and relatives, including their daughter, Blllie Jean who is a student at Carson-Newman Col lege. Mrs. H. L. Mark attended the meeting of Grand Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star In Chatta nooga last week. Mr*. R. W. Easley, Jr., visited her mother, Mrs. T. C. Thompson Jr. in Chattanooga last week Mr. and Mrs. H. Bueck and H. C., has as dinner guest at the Regal Hotel Sunday, Mrs. Ruth Carring er and son, Walter, and Mr. and Mrs. J.'E. Rufty of Andrews. Among the school boys and girls who were here last week for Spring holidays, were Susie Mil ler from Agnes Scott, Carolyn Alex ander from University fit Ga., Athens, Adif* Aronson from Geor gia Tech, and James Smith from the University of Tennessee, Knox vine. * \ Miss Kay Burgess of Atlanta spent the week end at home. Supt. H. Bueck will be a delegate to the meeting of the N. C. Educa tion Association in Asheville Thurs day. Friday and Saturday of this week. Gibson Dies At Home Near Warne Isaac Henry Glbeon, 63, died Sunday, March 20, at 9:15 p. m. in his home. Route 1, Warne. A native of Towns County, Ga., he had lived for 47 years In Union County. Ga., and was a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church. Funeral services were held at 10:30 a. m. Wednesday In Many Forks Baptist Church with the j Rev. Ham Coffey officiating. Bur- j ; ial was In the church cemetery. ' His wife died March 3. Surviving are six daughters, ' Mrs. Homer Sparks, Warne, Route 1, Mrs. Harley Owenby and Mrs. Frank Owenby of Belmont, Mrs. Virgil Eller of Gastonia, Route 3, and the Misses Lucille and Mildred Gibson of the home; two sons, i Lee B., Earne. Mrs. Frank Wilhlde attended the wedding of her nelce, Miss Carolyn Sprinkle whose marriage to Gor don Sisk took place in Knoxville, Tenn. Friday. Miss Blanche Hamby made a business trip to Knoxville the week end of Mar. 12. Moore Girls Have Joint Birthday Party Mrs. Rex Moore honored her daughters, Nancy, age nine and Dolores, age eight at a joint birth cay party Friday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Lawrence Anderson ir. Valleytown. An arrangement of spring flow ois flanked by birthday cakes fea tured the table arrangement. Among The Sick Mrs. Leila Sims underwent sur tal Mar. 3 for five major opera tions. She returned home here Mar. 14 and is reported improving nicely. She is a nurse at Rodda Van Gorder Hospital. Harve Elkins has been a patient in Murphy General Hospital for about two weeks, but is reported to be improved. P. C. Hyatt has returned from Duke Hospital w"here he under went surgery, and is recuperating nicely at home. The Rev. C. A. Smith who is a patient in Duke Hospital is report ed to be improving.
