Tuesday will find many local trout fishermen seeking out the streams to try their luck a gainst the tricky fish. The season for Mt. Mitchell, Daniel Boone, Sherwood, Santeet lah. Standing Indian, Fires Creek, and Wayah Wildlife management areas has been announced as fol lows . i April 5-6, 13, 16-17, 20, 23-24, 27 and 30. May 1, 4, 7-8, 11, 14-15, 18, 21-22, 25, 28-29-30. June 1, 45, 8, 11-12, 15, 18-19, 22, 25-26, 29. July 2-3-4, 8, 9-10, 13, 1617, 20, 23- j 24. 27. 30, 31. August 6-7, 13-14, 20-21, 27-28, 31. Special trout stamps ($1.10 for residents and J2.10 for non-resl- ' dents) are required. The creel limit on trout is 10 fish per day and fish of any size may be retained in the creel. Some special regulations apply ing to nearby trout fishing areas point out that: In the Standing maian area the use of natural bait is prohibited on the Nantahala River below the foot bridge at White Oak Bottoms. Also in Standing Indian, over night camping is permitted at the mouth of Bear Pen Creek, but fish ermen wishing to. camp must ob tain a permit at the checking sta tion for each day's fishing prior to entering the area. There Is also an Improved camp ground at White Oak Bottoms which may be used. A checking station Is located at the bottoms. Ovirnight camping fs also per mitted at Santeetlah Wildlife Man agement area at the mouth, of Big Fat Cove on Slick Rocktreelc. Permit must be obtained at the checking station for each day's fishing prior to entering the area. Untewrstty of wis Tri-County Area To Be X-Rayed The mobile x-ray units from the North Carolina State Board of Health will arrive in Murphy Thurs day in preparation for the opening of the mass x-ray survey of Chero kee, Clay and Graham counties on Friday. One unit will be stationed in front of the Courthouse in Murphy and will begin operation at 9 a. ra. Friday morning. The second unit will go to Hayes ville where It will be stationed at the Courthouse April 1, 2, and 5. In preparation for the survey a citizen's committee with Mrs. H. Bueck as chairman is contact ing every home In Murphy. Every home will receive a pam- . pfilet giving information about the the x-ray survey and a notice regarding free transportation for persons who have no way of get ting to the survey unit. Mrs. Bueck is being assisted by Mrs. John H. Baughman, Mrs. Tom Mauney. Mrs. S. P. Horo witz, Mrs. Jack Bocook and Boy Scouts of Troop Two. Miss Adella Meroney will con tact all stores in the business dis trict to give merchants information on the survey and the X-ray sche dule.
