E. 8 celebrated ita 33rd birthday anni veraary. In the Masonic Hall. After the business session the program committee took charge, Mrs. Hassle Butler presided in the East. The chapter room was decorated with rosea and other garden flow ers A rose covered white fenc? with a gate waa placed before the East. The program waa entitled "Garden of Remembrance". Charter members were escorted through the gate into the "Garden of Remembrance to seata of honor in the East, as "I Love You Truly" was sung. j They were welcomed by Mrs. Butler. A corsage of roses was i presented to each of them. Charter | members were: Mrs, Rebecca Wheeler, Mrs. Addie Adams. Mrs. Zena Forsyth, Mrs. Mary Swan. Zala Adams, Mrs. Clara Sherrill another charter member was not present. As the choir sang "Moonlight and Roses" Mrs. Swan entered with a scrool, from which she read the history of the chapter. A garland of roses was placed on the altar by the chaplain, Mrs. Mabel Rayburn, after which "In the Garden" was sung. | The past matrons and past pat | rons were then escorted through : the garden gate by Mrs. Polly Mc ? Guire, past junior matrons as | "Long, Long Aga" was played. A | red rose was presented to each of | them by two flower girls. Mrs. \ June Brooks and Mrs. Sara Pul lium. The American flag was carried though the garden gate by asso ciate patron, Rechard Conley, as "God Bless America" was sung. During the social hour which fol lowed cake and punch was served The birthday cake was decorated arith the Eastern Star emblem in the emblematic colors. Hostesses were: Mrs. Tluth C. Pullium, Miss Bartha McGuire, Mrs. Leila Thomasson, Mrs. Carrie Wamock and Miss Elizabeth Xil patrick. , | Miss Neal Feted At Andrews She wer Miss Jane Gay Neal, bride elect of Cecil Frazier was feted on Mon day evening at the home of Mrs. Carl West when the members of the Winsome class of the First Baptist church entertained with a miscellaneous shower. The tea table was covered with a white linen cloth centered with an arrangement of gypsophlia. pas tel colors of larkspur, and asters. A miniature church with bride and groom figurines were placed on the end of the table. The members signed their names in textile paints on an attractive organdy tea apron and presented it to the honoree. Other bridal games featured the entertainment. The gifts were suspended from two \re;e wedding bells. The hostess was assisted in serv ing punch and cake by Mrs. James Harris, teacher of the class, and Miss Shelby Jean Reese. Mrs. West is superintendent of the Young Peoples Department of the Sunday School. Dockery , Ashe Fined Unemployment Cases Ernest A. Dockery, Rt. 3, Mur phy, was found guilty of knowing ly making a false statement to ob tain Unemployment Insurance benefits without being entitled thereto. Jack Burrus, head of the local employment office said this week. Burrus said the claimant was fined $20 and court costs of $10. fO. He will also be required to refund the commission $33 which was paid to him as Unemployment Insur ance and will not be entitled to re ceive benefits for the remainder r ! the benefit year. Meanwhile, Clayton T. Ashe, Rt. 1. HayWville, was found guilty of knowingly withholding a material fact to obtain unemployment In surance benefits without being en titled thereto. Ashe was fined $20 and court costs of $6.88.
