Sun day, July 10 after a long Illness. Funeral services were held Wed nesday at ll a. m. in the Hayes vtlle Methodist Oiurch. The Rev. John K. Miller, pastor and the Rev. Asmond Maxwell, pastor of I Murphy First Methodist Church | officiated and burial was in the Hayesville Methodist Cemetery with Masonic rites. He was a native of Clay County, a son of the late Capt. James S and Josephine Ketron Anderson and resided most of his life in Hayesville, coming to Murphy a bout two years ago. He was engaged in the mercan tile business, retiring in September 1953. For 27 years he was a mem ber of the Cherokee Lodge, No. 146 AF and AM of Murphy. He was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason, affiliated with the Asheville Consistery and Oasis Scottish Rite Shrine in Charlotte, and a member of Murphy Chapter, No. 10. Order of the Eastern Star. Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Annie Lou Gaddis Anderson; one daughter. Mrs. Opal Tiger of Hay esville: one son, James VV. Ander son of Jacksonville, Fla., one step-daughter. Miss Mary Ann Gaddis and one step-son. E. G. Gaddis of the home; one sister. Mrs. Carrie A. Johnston of Hayes ville and two grandchildren. Pallbearers were rtooert. Early, O. July t, in a Durham Hospital from com plications arising from a goiter op eration on Tuesday. Funeral services were held Mon day at 4 p. m. in the chapel of Townson Funeral Home. The body remained at the Fun eral Home till the hour of the ser vices. The Rev. Asmond Maxwell, the Rev. Robert A. Potter and the Rev. W. F. Elliott officiated and burial was in the family lot in the Old Methodist Cemetery. He was the son of the late Ed ward. S. and MUlicent Brittain Mil ler a prominent family of Murphy and was a member of the First Methodist Church. Miller was graduated from Emory I'nivprsitv Dental College, \tlanta in 1945. He was a member of Sigma Pi Fraternity of Emory md XI Psi Phi Dental Fraternity. He was a captain in the U. S. Army during World War II and was on active duty in Korea for 16 months, where he was wounded. He was practicing dentistry in Weldon when he became ill. He Is survived by two brothers. Dr. Harry Miller atf Murphy, and Lt. Col. Edward S. Miller of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; and one sister, Mrs. Frank Justice of Oteen. M. Tiger. E. C. Moore, E. H.
