Funeral services for Arvell Dock Day, 68, who died Monday August 1 in an Andrews hospital, were held Tuesday at Hewitt's Bap tist Church. The Rev. C. L. Adams and the Rev. Clifton George offi ciated and burial was in Old Briar town Cemetery. Day was a native of Swain Coun ty. a son of Lush and Lucille Rand all Day. He was employed by Nan tahala Talc and Limestone Comp any for 40 years until his retire ment three years ago. He was a member" of Hewitt's Baptist Church. Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Ethel Mae Martin Day; three daughters, Mrs. Annie Bell South erds of High Point; Mrs. Winnie Mae Anderson of Greer, S. C., and Mrs. Lenora Wilson of Wharton. N. J.; three sons, Oscar of Andrews. Willie and F. Li. of Nantahala; 16 grandchildren, two Great-grand children; three brothers, Fred and Cline of Andrews, ^wnd Gwen of Nantahala; and a sister, Mrs. Bertha Bugg of Andrews. Carter Dies In Clay Friday Frank Burton Carter. 63 a farm er of the Downing Creek Section of Clay County died at 6:30 a. m. Fri day, August 5 in his home after an illness of nine months. Mrs. Caihey was a native of Swain County, a daughter of the late Elias Green and Sarah Bren dall Green. She resided in Cher okee County since 1917, and was a member of St. Andrews Lutheran Church. C.; and Mrs. Nancy Owensby of Marble; one sister, Mrs. * Nota Hyde of Canton; six brothers, Pearson Green and Lonnie Green, both of Canton; Willard Green, Gastcpiia; David Green, Morgan ton, Henry Green of Athens, Tenn. ; and Harvey Green of Bryson City.
