The Juniors and at Murphy High. The Juniors and es to talk with the representatives from the various colleges in North Carolina, Georgia and Tennessee. Representatives from different . branches of the Armed Forces were also present. The reason for College Day is to prepare the stu dents for college and give them an idea of what its like. Some of the Colleges that were j represented were: Western Caro lina. University of North Carolina. Mars Hill. Young Harris, Berea. (Vorth Carolina State. SMILES AND NEW FACES If you sawe everyone from Mur phy High all decked out Monday morning in their best duds it was because they were having their yearly school and annual pictures made. The photography is going to be good this year, or so I hear. The annual will be under way soon we '?ope. Miss MARIA TRAVIS will bo in charge of It as she always does an excellent job. SUB. CHEERLEADERS Since almost all of the cheer leaders were majorettes and the band performed Friday night. The majorettes that were cheerlead ers. asked the girls that were ??unner-up in the election for cheer leaders to cheer in their places. They did an excellent job of cheer ing our boys on. We give them much thanks for ?heir cooperation and for substitu ting so well. The girls were: PATRICIA MOORE. JENNY FOWLER. JANE VAN HORN, GRACE TOWN SN and JANE COOK. Two of the regular cheerleaders were IMO JEAN VOYLES and ALICE JEAN PALMER. BEFORE THE GAME Since Friday night was home coming at Murphy High. The band and cheer-leaders, Miss Ida Brumby and her court had a par ade and pep meeting through town. The queen and court rode in front of the band in the Police Car. The parade seemed to pep the stu lents up for the game. SPECIAL ATTRACTIONS ! ! Friday night, the Murphy Band did a marvelous pre-game and half time show. They have been working very hard for the past two or three weeks for the perfor mance they did at this game. Swain High Band did a half time show also. But we thought we did just as well. How about that band! ! ! ! A TREAT After the Murphy-Bryson City ballgame, Mr. and Mrs. EVERETT ENGLISH treated the band mem bers, Mr. and Mrs. Shuler and the Band Booster Club to hambur gers and hot chocolate milk at the Cherokee Cafe". Everyone cheer ed Mr. Shuler for doing a wonder ful job with the band. Also another treat was givtn by Mr. and Mrs. CLOE MOORE, who gave a barbecue for the foot ball boys, cheerleaders, queen an<1 I her court after the bailgame. Ev- , eryone seemed eager to treat the band or football team. They are all appreciated, I'm. sure.
