Drunk driving convictions edged
over the 1000 mark in April, the
Motor Vehicles Department said
today. j'
Last month's 1039 tipsy drivers
! were in addition to 768 convicted
speeders the vehicles agency re- '
ported in a monthly summary of
license revokable traffic offenses. ?
Most of the speeding convictions
were due to driving in excess of
70 mph in a passenger car.
The drunk drivers represented j
mostly one time loosers, although I
a number suffered additional pen
alties for second, third, a:-d .
fourth convictions.

quent loss of legal driving privil
eges. included 114 reckless driv- :
