J. C. Ledford
Funeral services for Julius Chris
topher (Myrt) Ledford, 75, who
died in his home, Murphy, Route 1,
at 12:25 a- m- Friday were held at
2 p. m- Sunday in Moss Memorial
Church in Clay County.
The Rev. Ham Coffey officiated
and burial was in the church
cemetery. Pallbearers were,
James, Paul and Hubert Ledford,
Gerald and Lawrence Phillips and
Donald Moore.
Mr. Ledford was a native of Clay
County, a son of the late William
C. and Olivia Ledford, and had
lived in Cherokee County for the
past 12 years- He was a retired
merchant and was a member of
L e d fo r d' s Chapel Methodist
church.
Surviving are the widow .Mrs
Flora Phillips Ledford; four sons,
Garland and Billy of the home- J.j
C. Jr., of Falls Church, Va., and
Kenneth with the Air Force in
Spokane, Wash.; three daughters
Mrs. Mildred Sparrow of Falls
Church, Mrs. Sue Garza of Step
henville, Newfoundland, and Mrs.
Jewel Williams of Ronda Beach,
Calif, and 11 grandchildren.
Ivie Funeral Home was in
charge of arrangements.

Hyde, two-year-old son of Mr. and
Mrs. Philip Hyde of Robbinsville
who died Monday, Nov. 18 in ag
Andrews hospital after a long ill
ness were held Friday at 2 p. m.
in Metz Cemetery near Robbins
ville by the Rev. Otis Orr.
The body remained in the Town
son Funeral Home Chapel in Rob
binsville awaiting word from the
father in Korea.
Surviving, in addition to the par
ents, are two brothers. Philip Jr.
and Robert of the home; two sis
ters, Elizabeth and Barbara of the
home; the paternal grandparents,
Mr. and Mrs. R. V. Hyde of Rob
binsville and the maternal grand
father, R. Wegener of Staten Is
land, N. Y.

Lovin, 90, who died at ? p. m. Sat
urday, at her borne is the Sweet
water community of Clay County
were held at Ji a- m- Monday in
Sweetwater Methodist Church of
which she was a member more
than 50 years.
The Rev- Benjamin Steel and
the Bev. Claude Young officiated
and burial was in the church ceme
tery.
Nephews were pallbearers.
Mrs. Lovin was the daughter of
the late Sidney and Loretta Harp
er Zimnierman, pioneer family of
Cherokee County.
Surviving are two daughters,
Miss Jessie Lovin of the home and
Mrs. J- C. Auberry of HayesviUe;
two granddaughters, Mrs. Burton
Sales of Brasstown and Mrs. Jim
ray Waldroup of Marietta, Ga.;
one grandson, J. C Auberry Jr. in
the U. S. Navy, and three great
grandchildren.

Carrie Chastain
Funeral services for Mrs- Carrie
Chastain, 79, who died at 6 a. m.
Saturday, in a Hiawasee Ga- hos
pital after a long illness, were
held at 2 p. m. Monday in Ivy Log
Baptist Church. The Rev. Gus
Hunt and the Rev. Don Kinnersly
officiated and burial was in the
church cemetery.
Surviving are three daughters,
Mrs. Flossie Roberts and Mrs.
Willard Akers of Asheville, and
Mrs- Blanche Turner of Detroit,
Mich.; five sons, Roy of Wilming
ton, Del., R. N. of Barberton, 0-,
R. L. of Middleton, Conn., C. A. of
Akron, Ohio, and Wade of Cleve
land, Ohio; 15 grandchildren and
eight great-grandchildren; two
brothers, Ed Duvall of Greensboro,
Ga. and Charlie of Asheville, and
a sister, Mrs. R. L. Watts of Co
lumbus, Ga
Pallbearers were Fred Akin,
Herman Thompson, Beecher Mc
Glamery, Ray and Earl Beavers.
Nieces were flower bearers.

died at the home of a daughter,
Mrs. Myrtle Carver of RobMnsville

weeks illness, were held at 2 p. m
Sunday in Tuskeegee Baptist
Church.
The Rev. James Farr officiated
and burial was in Sawyer Ceme
tery.
She was a lifelong resident of
Graham County, a daughter of the
late Ike and Ann Holder Sawyer,
prominent Graham County family.
Surviving, in addition to Mrs
Carver, are three sons, Willard
Sawyer, Clyde Gribble and Rube
Carver of Robbinsville; five grand
children; and four sisters Mrs.
Mae Cole of Andrews, Mrs. Flora
Crisp of Thomasville, Ga.. Mrs.

Sealed bids will be received until
11 o'clock, A- M.. Eastern Standard
Time, December 17, 1957, by the
undersigned at its office in the City
of Raleigh, North Carolina, for
$40,000 Electric System Revenue
Bonds of the Town of Murphy,
North Carolina, dated December
1, 1957 and maturing annually on
December 1, $8,000 1958 to 1962, in
clusive, without option of prior
payment. There will be no auction.
Denomination $1,000; principal
and seminnual (J and D 1) interest
payable in lawful money at The
Hanover Bank in New York City;
coupon bonds registerable as to
principal only; delivery on or about
January 6, 1958, at place of pur
chaser's choice
The bonds are to be issued pur
suant to The Revenue Bond Act
?I 1938, ai amended, and Chapter
8M, Session Law* of 1M7, tad a
resolution duly adopted by the
Board of Commissioners of the
Town of Murphy on December 9,
1857, for the purpose of financing
the cost of erecting and equipping,
as a part of the electric system of
the Town, a building to provide of
fices and facilities for the Town of
Murphy ElectricPower Board- The
bonds are not a debt of the Town
but are payable solely from the
revenues derived from the opera
tion of its electric system, such
payment being secured by a pledge
of revenues adequate to pay the
principal and interest of the bonds,
which pledge constitutes a first
charge on the revenues of such
electric system, subject only to
payment of expenses of operations
and maintenance as provided in
the authorizing resolution- Addi
tional bonds of equal standing
with the bonds of this issue may
be issued, but only for the purposes
and upon the terms and conditions
set forth in the authorizing reso
lution. Further information and a
copy of the authorizing resolution
may be obtained from the under
signed upon request.
Bidders are requested to name
the interest rate or rates, not ex
ceeding 6% per annum in multi
ples of 44 of l%- Each bid may
name one rate for a part of the
bonds having tbe earliest maturi
ties and another rate for the bal
ance, but no bid may name more
than two rates and each bidder
must specify in his bid the amount
of bonds of each rate- The bonds
will be awarded at not less than
par and accrued interest to the
bidder offering to purchase the
bonds at the lowest interest cost to
the Town, such cost to be deter
mined by deducting the total
amount of the premium bid from
the aggregate amount of Interest
upon all of the bonds until their
respective maturities. No bid for
less than all of the bonds will be
entertained.
Each bid must be submitted
on a form to be furnished by the
undersigned, must be enclosed in
a sealed envelope marked "Bid for
Bonds," and must be accompanied
by a certified check upon an incor
porated bank or trust company,
payable unconditionally to the or
der of the State Treasurer of North
Carolina for $800. The right to re
ject all bid* is reserved- The ap
