Smith, son of Mr. and Mn. Henry Smith of Cher okee, has completed his initial course of Air Force basic military training at Lackland Airorce Base. He has been selected to attend the technical school for firefighters at Lowry AFB, Colo. Airman Smith is agraduate of Cherokee High School. Basic airman at Lackland are selected for specialized training at technical schools on the basic of their interests and aptitudes. They are reassigned to the school after four weeks of basic, and are given additional military basic training along with the technical subjects. Murphy Woman's Husband Completes School PFC Roy W. Wiggins Jr., 23, who se wife. La Vean, lives in Murphy, recently graduated from the Seventh Army Typing School in Stuttgart, Germany, while serving with the 379th Signal Battalion in Germany. Wiggins a clerk in the battalion's Headquarters Detachment, entered the Army in July 1958, completed basic training at Fort Jackson, S. C.. and arrived in Europe last Febru ary. He is a 1954 graduate of Athens High School and attended Young Harris College. Wiggins was emplo yed by Southern Bell Telephone and Telegraph Company in Atlanta, Ga., before entering the Army.
