By virtue of the laws of the State'
of North Carolina and the powers
vested in us, we. tne Board of Town
Commissioners of the Town of Mur
phy, legally assembled this the 13tti
day of July, 1959, and realizing thati
desirable burial lots are no longerj
available in the Sunset Cemetery*
and that the Town of Murphy now
owns adjoining property which is
separated from the main cemetery
by what is known as Potters Field,
said property having been plotted
and an access road laid out by L.
R. Harding through said Potters
Field, which will necessitate the
removal of several graves, numbers
2, 7, 15, 31, 32 33, & 51, as des
ignated on plat drawn by R. L.
Harding.
Do resolve that in order to per
form the governmental duties of the
Town of Murphy as prescribed by
law, graves No. 2, 7, 15, 31, 32, 33,
& 51, as shown on plat drawn by
L. R. Harding, be removed in ac
cordance with the General Statutes
of North Carolina, Chapter 65,
Section 13, which states that graves
can be removed provided thirty
days notice be given to known rela
tives of deceased, notice of such in
tended removal to be run once a
week for four weeks in local news
paper, graves to be removed to
suitable location and left in as good
condition as before and that all ex
penses be borne by the municipal
ity.

that is held once a year. The show
will be attended by amature miner
al coUectors and gem cutters from
all over the United States and many
parts of the world.
They will be gone on this trip for
about one month. The children will
be staying with their grand parents
in Memphis, Tenn.

MRS. HARRIET BROOKS
Mrs. Harriet Brooks, 83, died at
1 a.m. Tuesday. August 18 at the
home of a brother, William J. Hen
son. Hayesvilie Route 3.
She was a native of lounin Coun.
ty. Ga., a daughter of the late Arch
and Lou Shelton Henson, and was
the widow of John Brooks, who died
in 1951. She was a member of
Friendship Baptist Church near
Hiawassee, Ga.
Services were held Wednesday
at 11 a.m. at Hayesvilie Methodist
! Church.
The Rev. Claude Young officiat
ed, and burial was in the church
cemetery.
Surviving are a stepdaughter
' Mrs. Dell Galloway of Blue Ridge
Ga.; and two stepsons, Wayne of
Hayesvilie, and Lawson of Clayton,
Ga.
Ivie Funeral Home was in charge
; of arrangements.
