Mrs. J. B. Gray. Mrs. Joe Hay,
Mrs. Ed Reynolds, Mrs. W. M. Fain,
and Mrs. Dale Lee were winners
of the floating slam prizes.
Twenty-four guests were present
at both parties.

Aug. 16 in a ceremony held at the
First Baptist Church.
The bride is the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. William Lawson Craw
ford of Andrews, and the bride
groom is the ?m of Mr. aad Mrs.
William Pope of Mooresvflle.
The Rev. Thomas C- Christmas
Jr.. pastor officiated and a pro
gram of wedding music was pre.
sented by Miss Nadine White of
Charlotte, organist and Mrs. Char
les Freel vocalist.
Given in marriage by her father.
, the bride wore a wedding gown of
magnolia white satin, floor length,
fashioned with a fitted Chantilly
lace bodice with bouffant skirt of
satin. Her illusion viei was attach
ed to a Juliet cap of lace and seed
, pearls. She carried a bouquet of

streamers.
Mrs. Carroll Swanger of Char
lotte a former classmate, was her
matron of honor. She wore a prin
cess style dress of pink taffeta and

Hamilton Jr., of Morristown. Tenn.,

mony, a reception was held in the
church parlor. The bride's table
was centered with a centerpiece of
pink asters, white tollies, and
gypsophlia. Mrs. Roy Williams,
aunt of the bride and Miss Darlene
Powers, a former classmate pre-1
sided at the table. They were assist-'
ed by Mrs. Golman Roper, Mrs.
Vernon McGuire, Miss Ruth Hamil
ton and Mrs. E. Nicholson.
The bride's mother was attired
in a blue dress with matching ac-,
cessories and wore a corsage of
white carnations. The bride
groom's mother chose a dusty rose
sheath with matching accessories
and wore a corsage of pink carna-'
tions.

Mary Faye Brumby's were hand-j
some containers with pink roses,
purple butteryfly bush, and graceful
white clematis and in the paneled
family room were orange and yel
low sunflowers against a back,
ground of glossy deep green foliage.
Annette Whitfield's living-room
was gay with bright orange mari
golds and mammouth dahlias and
her dining room formed a lovely
setting for an old-fashioned arrange
ment of roses and mixed summer
flowers.
CO-hostesses JESSIE HARSHAW;
and her husband, Ed. leave this
Sunday for their home in Rich-|
mond, Va. after a happy summer at
Harshaw Farms. Jessie and Ed will
both return to their positions with
the Richmond schools. Ed's brother,

MAE, of St. Petersburg, Fla. are
welcome visitors at the Farm this
week.
The Murphy Garden Club forgot
business and went on an all-day
outing last Friday at the pretty
lake home of ALICE WILSON. Af
ter swimming and bridge the mem
bers enjoyed a bountiful picnic
spread, ending with a dessert of
three luscious cakes straight from
the ovens of Nora Belle Odum,
Avis Hoover, and Leila Hayes.
Leila brought along a congenial ad
didtion to the party, her niece,
EVELYN FARMER, and Alice's
attractive house-guest, NANCY t
BELL, was there along with co-j
hostess ROSALYN BURGESS to
assist in entertaining the guests.
A popular couple, SHIRLEY and
BILL HODGES, left recently for
their new home in Athens, Ga.

he is a member of the Kangaroo

Prance. She told the club of the
beauty of the gardens in Vienna,
Austria, with particular emphases
of the gardens of the various plac
es, with reference to the statuary |
ps well as the beds and borders of
roses.
In closing she gave the history of
the restoration of Tryon Palace
home of our first governor which
she visited during a session of the
legilature, which was held there
recently. She also gave an intimate ;
account of the Maude Moore Lath,
